Anyway back on topic another great show from Mr Allinson today.
I have been thinking about an earlier post from Arcader on this thread-a dream job maybe-Richard Allinson's agent. |

Personally I would like to see Richard taking over permanently the mid morning slot currently occupied by the dire Ken Bruce.
Ken is overpaid on his £194K a year. I do not think this represents good value for money at all. I was interested to read yesterday that a damming report is shortly to be published about BBC staff salaries etc which apparantly leaves no stone unturned. It should be an interesting read when it is released. |

Ken Bruce is overpaid as are most BBC DJs, but he is entertaining and witty unlike some I could mention.
Richard Allinson should return to Saturday afternoons instead of Dermot O'Leary, but it's not what you know, it's who you know, isn't it.
As regards the recently banned Scott/Dean, well the writing was on the wall when he began saying the forum needed him again. I don't know why Scott has to go to extremes, except for the exuberance of youth perhaps. |

Hi Briant-I think I am in a very small minority on this forum as someone who actually likes Dermot O'leary.
I enjoy his Saturday afterrnoon show -especially the sets from new bands etc. Some of these are good but some are really bad.
Clearly he is not as good the mighty Richard Allinson-Richard's Saturday afternoon show with the fantastic Wall of Sound from a few years ago was outstanding radio etertainment imho but I do like Dermot.
Still Saturdays are not all bad these days-Richard Allinson on BBC Radio Oxford from 12-2pm with his excellent Allinsons Albums show, then a retune to Radio 2 for Dermot followed by Gambo's show (only starting tuning into this again recently-he plays a real diversity of different music which I find interesting) then if I have the energy some late night Bob Harris to finish off with.
Allinson rocks |

I'd like to listen to the bands but cannot listen to Dermot wittering on, if only they would get a good presenter for this show. |

Like reinstating Richard Allinson to Saturday afternoons? He quite often had live music on his old 3.30 - 6.30pm slot. |

Yes indeed he did. I remember the Sheryl Crow gig on his Saturday afternoon show. 30 guitars she brought with her wasn't it?
Here's a little snapshot of when Saturdays were unmissable. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/newcastle/allinson.shtml No you can't 'Listen again' to Richard's show (I tried it!) but the Texas webcast does still work. Click the 'Newcastle home' button to see what a good week of programmes in general that was. Oh dear I've gone all misty eyed now!!

I also remember the Sheryl Crow session! I believe she performed her new single "Soak Up The Sun" in the studio (I know I first heard this track on Richard's Saturday show).
Saturdays were ace back then. Oh, the memories! Happy days! |

Scotty used to like them as well, I do recall. He loves Dermot now, apparently. Can't think why, but what the heck..... live and let live eh? _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |

Quite a few people out there miss Richard Allinson on Radio 2. His Saturday show was the best programme of the week (in my opinion). Thankfully, Paul Gambaccini is hanging in there - somehow. |

I guess we ought to be thankful that La Douglas hasn't subjected us to Danny Baker on Saturday mornings. That really would be dreadful. _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |

Never say never. It's bad enough Russell Brand is on Radio 2. Apart from Brian Matthew, Paul Gambaccini and Bob Harris, the rest of the Saturday schedule is full of airheads. |

Scotty would have described Brian Matthew differently. _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |

I know. I took that very badly. What a disgraceful insult. The boy's a fool! _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |

What the hell is an 'old kenk' anyway? Another one of Scott's made up insults? |

Dunno. Sounds quite horrible, though. We'll have to ask him. _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |
