You must be confusing Stuart Maconie with Sarah Kennedy. |
No actually, credit where credit is due, I think Sarah K is doing ok since she came back after her illness and her holiday. She's really smartened up her act. A couple of the other Jocks perhaps could do with a long holiday/rest after which they might well improve also.

Perhaps Alex Lester has been told to change his format so he fits in amongst the shouty brigade on Radio 2 a la Chris Evans, Steve Wright, Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand, etc? |

More likely that he's on his way to Commercial Radio next April and is just turning up for the cash until then. |

I doubt Radio 2 are about to dump Alex Lester. He celebrated his 20th anniversary on the station earlier this year. He's hosted the early morning slot since 1987 and has a loyal following.
Who could replace Alex Lester? Surely not Nikki Bedi who talks more than Davina McCall? |

I sure if we are correct talking about Alex leaving, it's because he's been dumped from the cover work? |

Maybe the BBC are saving money? Rather than have Alex Lester travel down to London to cover (whoever), maybe they're now having the cover done by a London-based presenter?
When Mark Radcliffe sits in for Mr 1985, does he do so from Manchester or London? I still think Mark Radcliffe is being groomed for the 2.00 - 5.00pm slot. He's even said he wants a daytime slot on the network. |

Mark spends the week in the big smoke. |

That does seem strange then. Maybe Lesley Douglas feels Alex Lester isn't suitable for daytime radio anymore? I still doubt he's going to get the chop. For all we know it might be Alex's decision not to do anymore daytime cover. Besides, Mark Radcliffe wants a daytime slot and has made this pretty clear. Alex Lester is clearly happy where he is, otherwise he wouldn't have spent the last 20 years there. |
