Vine show has just quoted a few calls that people have made to the 999 line
One was.......there is a man walking in a popular park that dog walkers use to walk their dogs...and he has no dog.
Another was...there are loud noises going off in a woods..
The strange thing is that a list of these calls are being put on Twitter.......... by the Greater Manchester police
It would appear the public do not know what an emergency is these days _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

I can't believe that Jeremy is so badly informed not to know that most if not all police forces DO ALREADY have phone numbers for non urgent calls the one for my area being an 0845 number
It seems that these non urgent numbers need to have more publicity but I found them listed in my phone book without any problem
Its a shame we seem to have such a large section of the population without any vestige of common sense _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

That's actually a good idea, in my opinion, because what it's doing is taking a live data feed from GMP's emergency call-centre system in order that we can see exactly the details of each call. I spent a short while this morning watching the update and I found it fascinating.
It's very illuminating - and does indeed confirm that there are some extremely stupid people out there. |

I like it when the Chief Constable said Twitter puts them in Jail if they do too many tweets. They have to change the log in.
There should be a non emergency number for people too phone as well as the emergency 999 number. |

Trouble is who remembers or has the non emergency number in their mobiles?
Also where do you find it in your phone book, after you've found your magnifying glass of course?

Funnily enough Helen I have the non emergency numbers of both the North Wales Police and the Cheshire Police on my mobile and I used to have the equivalent one for the Merseyside Police on my old simcard
I always think it is wise to be prepared in these days of anti social behaviour and the like
I've used them on several occasions _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Actually Colin I still have it and my son who is also a scouting person wears it regularly
I don't know if he's scouting for girls but he's getting near that age!
