This may be the oxygen of publicity, for which I apologise, but I must admit to a gasp of incredulity when I saw this, so I needed to share!
No need to respond, unless you particularly feel the need. Perhaps a deafening silence will give out the appropriate message. |

Yes, I saw that too. I thought it made really amusing reading. "My job is done here".
Yeah right. |

"This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the House Rules in some way."
That is what should appear on his digital gravestone.
I'm afraid I couldn't be quite as conciliatory in my response as some have managed, as I just can't accept behaviour like that, either his or the board host's. If I was still allowed to post on the board under this name, I would probably be banned for being honest in my assessment of his contribution. I won't be saying anything and hope never to encounter him again. |

"This posting will not be removed cos I can do what the heck I like" would be more apt I would suggest.
Oh and welcome Ally... |

How very strange that he's allowed back on and the rest of us who are banned - and still waiting to find out why - aren't. We don't even have a method to contact the board even if we wanted to. |

SN's provocative rudeness did, however, pale into insignificance beside that of the Host's, whose condescending resplies, liberally sprinkled with eye-rolling and <doh> smileys, showed her contempt for anyone who disagreed with her.
As the 'professional', I would have expected better from her, not to mention a rather higher standard of moderation skills. |

Reading between the lines, her responses to complainants posts (about Scott's, etc) could be interpreted as saying: "Look, he/she is saying what we actually think but aren't allowed to say so won't moderate it in the way that we will yours".
And, I agree, the use of sarcastic smileys was nothing short of rude and patronising. Is there any wonder why we've all come to the conclusion that the mods colluded with the board's prime culprit.
I hope Peta has been reading these threads over the last couple of days. |

It was a shame that those who visited the board to genuinely express an opinion and accept those that didn't agree were forced to entrench their views by the host. A job badly done and a head that should be hanging with shame. |

I think we can agree that there was definitely some collusion going on between Peta, the Mods and the net troll. It was plainly obvious and flagrant. No doubt in my mind the fix was in. Shame really. |

Many people found Scott irritating but I think the real problem was Peta
I have rarely come across anyone who is supposed to be policing a messageboard who is so arrogant and condescending towards certain contributors but yet seems to be very best friends with others
I am very proud that in many of my postings particularly towards the end I stood up to Peta I think many others tried to but frequently their posts were removed without any good reason
Its one thing to disagree with another person but people in her position should be defending the right of everyone to free speech within the rules
Of course that is exactly the problem namely the very strange interpretation of the rules in Petaland |

Yep, I'm in total agreement. Nail on proverbial head!!!
It's the appalling, biased and inconsistent standards of moderation that are to blame. |

Interestingly, I am still awaiting a response to my complaint (which was removed from the MB) re exactly the same. Peta did advise me to check my spam mail ! |

My complaint was initially being dealt with by someone called Anthony Henderson at the complaints department. Case number CAS-273626-MZD65L if anyone wants to refer to it.
He initially referred me to contact the board's moderators. But when I told him that the problem was with THE moderators and any complaints were swept under the carpet, all went quiet - except that my account suddenly got banned.... |

There's no logic to the way the BBC Messageboard admin team operated at all. It's like phoning up a utility company to complain that a member of the call-centre staff was rude to you - only to find that they then cut off your gas, electricity, phone account or whatever in retaliation for your daring to making a complaint in the first place.
Utterly and completely........... incompetent. That's what I say! |

That wasn't the right thing to write. What you should have put was: "Chris Evans is the absolute tops and I utterly adore him".
Too late now!!!! |

This explains much...
on top of the Evans juvenile noise-fest commencing half an hour earlier (I thought he was on record as saying he didn't want to start earlier, seven o'clock was plenty early enough for him?)
No wonder those of us who are premodded or excluded haven't yet been allowed to return to the BBC boards, or we'd be drawing attention to this and making insinuations and unwelcome links to the manner Sarah's departure... as I recall, the trigger for my owen premodding was that I made the error of quoting Johnny Walker's autobiography, in which he quite mildly says the BBC chose, with minimum warning, explanation or time to prepare, to pass him over to allow Chris Evans to have his slot. Not once but twice.
Incidentally, the ten-day period in which the BBC said it would reply to my initial complaints concerning first premodding and then total exclusion from all boards, has long since passed.
Have I received a reply?
no.
So another complaint and request for them to review the situation has gone in as of yesterday (Mon 4th Oct).
Watch this space...
I'm really angry as the initial "offence" was on the R2 boards which as we all know are now defunct. So I could not return to BBC boards and carry on comenting on R2 shows without being automatially in default of house rules - it would clearly be off-topic to discuss R2 shows on the R4 boards, for instance. This in itself would enforce silence.
Also, I am angry that a dispute with the R2 mods has resulted in my being excluded from all boards.
My membership of the wildly eccentric and eclectic h2g2 board (the attempt to build Douglas Adams' Guide to the Planet Earth far beyond the two words "mostly harmless") actually predates the point where the BBC took this board completely under its wing in the BBC messageboard system. Yet the BBC chose to exclude me here too, as well as on the R7 boards where no offence at all has been caused and I have always had a good relationship.
I have posted the new complaint here in the "welcome" section for anyone who's interested.
I make it that by their own rules they have till the 14th Oct to reply. Will they, and what will they say? (if anything)
And what will they do? _________________ One of the BBC's bad boys, seemingly. |

Re this and the BBC banning users with a particular ISP (or family members) I wonder if the press know of this and is it allowed?
I do think it unfair that they are allowed to get away with this.

I was pre modded from the R2 board. I just replied to someone......it might have been your thread. The thread then vanished. I then found that I was pre modded on all BBC message boards.
I did not complain, I just found it so bias towards that Nelson bloke I gave up
I often write on the religious board. And had to struggle to add coments to that board. But I now find........ I must assume, I have been taken off the pre mod..as messages go straight on the board.
The moderators do not appear to have a set way of working. And were in favour of that Nelson bloke at all turns. I hope my licence fee is not paying their wages still .....they all need to be sacked....Dont get me started on the moderators on the religious board...... _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

Add me to the list of those who were banned for daring to ask why other posters had been censored.
There are many others on Gavin's site.
Has anyone thought of starting a petition to the press?
I would gladly sign.

Hi Helen and Hedgehog
nope, still blocked, still rendered anonymous and reduced to a U-number - just done the daily check.
Hopefully I can open up a second line of attack by emailing the h2g2 Editors, who retain a degree of independence from the rest of the BBCi monolith, and asking them to support my request to return to the site as AgProv. (On the basis of all the Edited Entries I wrote for the Guide - the argument is that I added value and worth to the site that supports my continued membership). I just can't locate, as yet, their direct email - any approach to them has to be done through the messageboards... from which I am of course barred. Catch 22.....
I wonder if this is deliberate! _________________ One of the BBC's bad boys, seemingly. |

Hi Blondehedgehog,
I think pre mod must have a set time, mine lasted 2 weeks and then things went back to normal the week before the R2 board closed. Like you I said I agreed with someone then it was modded and the thread disappeared.
I remember complaining about several posts and the decision not to remove must have been automatic because the reply came within 2 or 3 minutes. It was almost as if 'this person's posts will not be removed under any circumstances'..............
Makes you wonder.

The problem is, mine has gone to the next stage, that of "Greetings, unknown hiker!" followed by a simple message of
"We are sorry, but at the moment you are restricted from posting to this thread" (everywhere)
with a side-serving of "your BBC nickname has been removed" so that everywhere I'm no longer AgProv but U149638, or whatever...
I've been premodded before and I thought I knew what to expect, but exclusion and restriction - this is unknown territory.
Has anyone ever made it back from here, or is it permanent? I just don't know a thing and they won't, seemingly, tell me. I can only guess!
And Gavin's site may be found where, please? This full list of excluded dissident posters is starting to sound like something from the latter days of the Soviet Union! (Samizdhat, anyone? That defines this site!) _________________ One of the BBC's bad boys, seemingly. |
