|
|
We were driving near our large B&Q Warehouse in Milton Keynes last weekend and noticed that about 6 drain covers in a row had been removed from the road, with warning cones having been inserted (by the local authority) into the cavity in order to alert drivers of the hazard.
Listening to Jeremy's show today I now realise why? They're being stolen!
It could cost up to £500 to replace each cover. Amazing.......... |

The thieves are selling them on to scrap metal dealers Becky. The councils are replacing a lot of them with plastic covers which of course have no scrap value.
You couldn't make it up could you?

Thanks Helen..coincidentally.I saw a item on my local news tonight that the theft of metal plaques from cemeteries in the North West is at an all time high .....how despicable is that? |

Plastic does seem the obvious answer at least to the drain cover problem. However when it comes to other things like stealing memorial plaques and metal from church roofs it is difficult to see what can be done about that.
These people have no feelings unfortunately so it is no good asking them to think about their actions because they simply don't care. |
