this can't be for real? haven't they heard of electric blankets?
We have an electric underblanket and I agree, it's very nice to get into a warm bed but I don't see the need for humans to do the job.
I remember when I was a kid, getting into a crispy cotton sheet bed in the depths of winter... took ages to get in and warm up with no central heating. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

In the days before duvets became de rigeur we had an electric over-blanket, and arguments about what number it should be set to.
Nowadays, if it's really cold, I suppose I perform the service, without the babygro. Why is it women's feet are always flippin' freeezing? _________________ Ron |

I once stayed at a guest house down in the west country, during the winter months. The bed was icy cold, and the sheets so damp that me sliding down into the bed made a squeaking noise! _________________ Minx

I'm surprised they haven't been banned today! boiling water in bed? I remember even filling them up was a bit iffy...
I think that's a smell one never forgets too - a piping hot rubber water bottle.
I had a pink one.. err, make that a red one, and I'd cling on to it until it was just luke warm... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I never had a hot water bottle as a child (or adult) but I can imagine the smell of hot rubber. Had to make do with my own body heat under the blankets, even in the bad winter of 62/3 (we did have a paraffin heater in the bedroom - can you imagine what child welfare workers would say about that these days? - which took a little of the chill off, though not sufficient to prevent the condensation on the windows from freezing).
Now, even in their centrally heated coccoon, our niece and nephew get a hot water bottle; talk about being mollycoddled! _________________ Ron |

How about some bedroom songs to warm you up?
'Lay lady lay' by Bob Dylan
'Turn out the lights' by Teddy Pendergrass
'Help me make it through the night' by Kris Kristofferson
'Let's spend the night together' by The Rolling Stones.....
Over to you, as H might say! |

When we were kids, frost on the INSIDE of windows was the norm.
By the way, why do we never hear "S-s-s single Bed" on the radio? Whatever happened to Noosha Fox? _________________ MiS |

When we got up in the morning it was the norm in our house during the extreme weather last Christmas/New Year. Something I had not seen since I was a child! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |
