I obviously don't know how true it is but according to the dreaded MoS (I didn't buy it myself, honestly) Sir Tel will be taking over Michael Ball's slot on Sundays. A new time for MB is apparently still being negotiated. Much as I love Sir Tel I will be sorry if this means that Michael si shunted into some radio backwater. I would have been happier if EP had been replaced. |

Not being a fan of Michael Ball's style, I would be quite happy to hear Tel waffling away on a Sunday morning.. yes, I think it would work.
I wonder what kind of music he would play if it were his own choice? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Isn't Terry's show supposed to be live music from the Radio theatre though? I can't imagine that being combined with chat somehow.

It says that the show will be transmitted live from Broadcasting House and will feature live music, artists and guests.
The article also says that Chris Evans (ugh) asked for the morning show to begin at 7a.m. Further it says that Fern Britton is to present a show on Radio 2. |

Apart from the playlist songs, I believe that Tel chooses some ofte discs for his breakfast shows. he has championed both Eva Cassidy & Beth Nielson Chapman among others |

Apart from the fact that Ball is quite annoying, the saddest thing about his show is the lack of what I call "Parky" music. If Wogan gets this slot, what a golden opportunity to bring back Frank, Nat, Bing and Ella etc. We get the dreaded playlist rammed down our throats the rest of the week, let's make Sunday special again. _________________ MiS |

I completely disagree-I think the Michael ball on a Sunday morning makes for excellent listening/entertainment. I certainly do not find him "annoying".
I like the music he plays a lot-indeed the variety he plays is very different from the music played by Parky.
If Wogan has to have a Sunday show I hope it is not at the expense of Michael Ball. |

Each to their own, I'm sure there are many people in both camps.
Ideally, MB could take over from SLS - that surely must be consigned to the scrap heap soon? _________________ MiS |

I agree with madeinsurrey. The format (press review, entertainment review and interview) wasn't changed when Parky left, and I hope it continues under Wogan. It's just a pity that someone decided that, under Ball, the music would have to be different. I'm not convinced that Terry will change things back again...but in my opinion that's a pity, because Sinatra and co used to give Sunday lunchtimes a nice relaxed feel. |

Not a bad slot for Mr W, should be good. Pity about Michael Ball though , cos I like his show, I'm sure we'll find somewhere for him. Make it so No 1. |

I wonder if it is likely that a live performance programme would go out in the morning.
Is it not more likely to be an early evening slot?
Everything seems to suggest one of the current Sunday evening programmes would make way.
Nice forum, by the way! |

Is this a wind up? Why should Chris Evans have any say, who else will be inflicted upon us? I just wish they would make a proper announcement and tell us who is in/out AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE DO IT SOON! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Blame the poorly written report in the Mail on Sunday, rather than mark, who has tried to convey the gist of part of it.
All this speculation should come with a health warning, because it seems to be giving some people a lot of stress. They'll let us know when the changes and new schedules all fall into place - the paper notes that they are still talking to Michael Ball, so they're not ready just yet. _________________ Ron |

There will always be a SLS, or something like it, for loved ones, anniversaries, people in the armed forces - it's the old Family Favourites incarnate.
Could do with a change of presenter, but that's purely a personal opinion. _________________ Ron |

No, 't is a funny arrangement,, but Michael does have his theatrical commitments to fit in.
How will Terry go 12 weeks without a holiday? _________________ Ron |

In which case, why not make it a live show (assuming the current Sunday Love Songs is recorded) and re-incarnate Family Favourites (nostalgic memories of Sunday roasts of my youth and hearing names like "RAF Gan" ond other places in Cyprus, Germany etc! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Co-incidentally, on my local BBC station today there was a suggestion of a show for the forces on Sundays
so I sent this poem of mine in on an email and it was read out:
Two way family favourites
Jean Metcalfe on 'Two way family favourites', broadcasting on the radio for the BBC,
read out a request for someone serving in the forces, somewhere in occupied Germany, in BFPO 43!
'Sir Thomas White Gardens, in Liverpool, what a lovely address,' said she!
'It sounds just like a Shangri La with beautiful flowers and wonderful vistas for all to see,
I envy those who live there, perhaps I'll drop in sometime for a cup of tea!'
The reality of the place was somewhat different, but that's what Jean actually said! |

It's a ridiclous idea. The shows going to be the same. The same music and shows that neither of them can committ to a 52 week a year show minus holidays. It also shows the BBC were scrapping around to find Wogan a show to host. |
