I left the day off for a reason to let the debate happen. |

I don't listen to it so it doesn't really bother me, and I'm not sure that Paul O'Grady would be right for so early on a Sunday morning.
Maybe Pick of the Pops is 'taking a rest' as it did a few years ago?

With all the comments people say about Sunday Love Songs, it's to much of a brand for Radio 2 to be axed and very popular. Maybe Titus ( Alan Titchmarsh ) is going? |

Mark
I see you've lifted my wording to post on another board since I posted about POTP being 'rested'.................

It's been mentioned also on Digital Spy. I guess once the new schedules have been announced the untidy 6.30pm Sunday handover will be no longer. |

I don't read that forum, it was elsewhere I saw your post.
What's wrong with a show starting on the half hour? It's no different to starting on the hour.
Why don't you try listening to the content for a change instead of how it's made? You'd enjoy it more, take my word!

I wouldn't take much notice what you read on other forums, particularly Digital Spy.
We've heard it from the horses mouth - Paul O'Grady is joining Radio 2 on April 5.
It'll be interesting what slot he takes over. |

Mark Occomore, please do not speculate about who is getting the chop. And there is no evidence that Alan Titchmarsh's 6.30pm crossover with Johnnie Walker is about to come to an end.
Perhaps a Radio 2 trailer could be aired between Walker and Titchmarsh? |

I doubt it Mark as just today I've seen an Alan Titchmarsh's 'Melodies For You' CD in the supermarket.
If Sunday Love Songs is a brand well so is Melodies For You. Seems strange to axe (to use Scott's favourite phrase!) that now.........

The thing that surprises me is that they would put Michael Ball, Elaine Paige and Paul O'Grady together in a single schedule. They are all too similar being musical theatre luvies. So one of them must be leaving to make way. Or else we are going to have 6 hours of high pitched screech every Sunday (and thats before counting Dale!) _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I'd not thought of that, but I remember saying that there would be 2 luvvies one after the other when Michael Ball's appointment was announced.
I think one of them will go somehow.

I reckon it's Ball who's going. His show features regular guests, special interviews, and lots of different types of music. And that sounds perfect for O'Grady.
Plus, isn't it about 12 months since Ball started? Will he have reached the end of his contract?
The only flaw in my logic is that Ball's about to go on holiday - which you wouldn't think he would if he was leaving soon... |

Michael Ball was recently interviewed by The Evening Standard. He said that he is very much enjoying his show on Radio 2 and has no immediate plans to leave.
I reckon Elaine Paige is leaving. |

Elaine Paige's program would be the most logical place for him to move to but lets just wait and see. |

But if it's Elaine Paige... why the pretence? That would mean O'Grady has done 4 weeks, takes 2 weeks off, and carries on. Why not just have Paige leave 3 weeks ago? |

I understand Elaine Paige is currently on tour. If so, perhaps she wants to come back and say a huge "goodbye" to her listeners? The grand finale! |

Here's a name that could be in the running for Radio 2 breakfast....
He's already on Radio 2
He's said to be quitting Channel 4
He'd be very popular with the wide demographic of Radio 2 listeners
He's genuinely funny and engaging
He'd bring guests on to the show because he's one of the best loved people in showbiz...

If he won't do 26 hours of television for less than £2m a year I can't see him getting out of bed at 4 in the morning to do two hours of radio every morning for a quarter of that amount.
There's also his health to consider.
Why am I even giving this serious consideration? It's beyond a joke. _________________ Ron |

It's worrying that people believe a word that's written in that trashy comic. It's even more worrying that people buy it . _________________ MiS |

More worrying is that he believes the wind up merchants on other forums and then posts it on here.............

I think the greatest thing about Radio 2 are its specialist shows. It's what makes it distinctive
I do worry about the braying sounds Elaine Paige increasingly makes these days, but the show is a good one. Maybe a replacement could be found from the theatrical world?
Michael Ball seems quite a good presenter. Paul o'Grady does seem increasingly OTT.
But these shows- like the folk, country & blues, & Desmond Carrington shows- are what makes Radio 2 so distinctive & irreplaceable
Without them, it would be just like Magic |

I tuned into Paul O'Grady today-thought his show was quite good.
However I'm not sure the feature about dead pets-my wife and I could not stop laughing as we drove along listening to folks messages on this feature.
Not sure if Paul was keeping a straight face through this segment. |
