He was that computer buff that used to be on the Steve Wright show. I don't remember him leaving, but haven't heard him for ages. I quite liked him and he had some useful tips on websites. _________________ Minx

Steve had never been able to hide his disdain for the feature, so I reckon he just got rid (despite what Miles may say). Leaves more time for factoids and "public service announcements" |

He never, ever showed any real interest in whatever information Mendoza was bringing to the table, so I'm not surprised. Wright hates it when the attention is off him for more than 3.5 seconds so he probably was behind the axing of the feature. |

One of the many interesting links we got from Miles was www.houseprices.co.uk which is the Land Registry site which shows the selling price history of houses retrospective to a certain date.
Used in conjunction with www.nationwide.co.uk and www.hbosplc.com/economy/housepricecalculator.asp you can establish the current value of houses relative to a historical sale date/figure. We're currently househunting, and these three tools have proved very interesting. We found the last two by accident, but no doubt if Miles had still been doing his stuff we might have got there sooner. _________________ Minx

So, I understand from this board that SW has axed the "Big Quiz", and "Website of the Day". Is this so he can spend even more time boring listeners rigid with his own voice, read the news headlines every 2 minutes, and give us "love the show Steve" e-mails ad nauseum? I have to ask as I only ever listen when he's on holiday. The "Big Show" disappeared up it's own behind years ago, an anachronism that belongs either on ILR or an obscure DAB station, not National Radio. _________________ MiS |

Seemingly, yes.
Would you believe that Website of the Day was initially replaced by a daily "let's all comb our hair" feature? Genuinely. When he stopped doing that (and variations on it) Mendoza was quietly dropped and Steve now just does more headlines or stretches his pre-recorded interviews out even further. |

Ian, it's worse than I thought! - are you serious about the "comb our hair" bit? What does this bloke have to do before TPTB realise he's years past his sell-by-date? _________________ MiS |

I can't say I miss website of the day, Mendoza has one of the most irratating voices I've ever heard, I have to switch him off.
I thought the big quiz was ditched when they were having all that bother with fake pohone ins, it might not be Wright's fault that it never came back. |

Yeah, to be fair, I think the Big Quiz went because of the fakery scandal. Seeing as it was all recorded and edited weeks in advance they couldn't get away with it now.

Totally serious. 4.45pm, everyone combs their hair. The next week, it was brushing teeth or something. He also did (and these are absolutely true) 'rummage in your drawer for a corkscrew,' and 'scrape out the mayonnaise from the jar.'
Apparently, everyone on his team has given up trying to sort him out. We can only hope the new controller does something. |

Of course, if you read Robs link, Miles himself decided to pull the Website of the Day feature... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Yes, that's right... of course he did. It was all his decision! (I did look at Rob's link - I just think Miles is being diplomatic). |
