Quote: | The number of cases of motorists taking dangerous and illegal risks at UK level crossings is at a four-year high.
Figures released by Network Rail show there were more than 3,400 cases of level-crossing misuse last year, disrupting thousands of trains. |

Network Rail are going to run a TV and Radio advert how it's dangerous. I hope it sinks in to some people. Did anyone see that stupid boy running cross a crossing and just inches away from being killed and lost his shoe? |

Yes I saw the clip on the news, it makes your blood run cold. I can't imagine the mentality of anyone doing this, its not just your own safety what about the people on the train too?
I think that anyone in a car dodging round the barriers or ignoring the warnings should lose their licence and then have to re-take a test.
There was an incident near here last week, the idiot drove his car into the back carriage of the train. Luckily it didn't derail and amazingly he was unhurt despite writing his car off. I expect he will get away with it as 'he needs his car for work'. In my opinion he should have thought of that first! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Sounds like he now has the hassell of getting another car for work. Of course he should think how much use he will be to his boss in a wooden box 6 ft underground, or, at best, in a hospital bed nursing broken bones! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

One of the people who was filmed and then shown on last night's news apparently had his shoe clipped off by the passing train.
How long before he makes a claim to Network Rail for new shoes?

I think these people should be arrested and prosecuted. It would at least show someone is taking it seriously instead of showing it on the news. |

I think that, if caught, they should be shown large images (as taken by the emergency services at the incident scenes) of people who didn't survive such stupidity. A friend of mine is a Fireman (or whatever they're called these days!) and his unit gets called out to mainline railway "incidents" at least once per week. He said that impacts by fast trains will literally blow a body apart into lots of bits. Last year he spent over an hour walking the track looking for a human head.
I think people need to be reminded of their moronic behaviour - though the people I have real sympathy for is the train drivers because they're powerless to react at all. |
