For the first time in a very long time I listened to the full 2 hours of this show today.
With regard to the feature I am trying to trace .......
Today it was some lady trying to trace someone she stood up on a second date in 1959 as she only had one dress and didn't want to wear it again on the second date.
Question-does Steve Wright ever tell you the outcome the following show of this total nonsense-it's so bad/embarassing I'm now intrigued.
By the way he played a few good songs on this show today. Well done Steve. |

I haven't heard any follow ups being aired, but if so then I must have missed it. I did miss the show today. Glad to hear that the music is getting better.. |

I rarely listen but I've never heard any mention either. However, I did hear Lulu pondering the same question when she sat in for Steve this Christmas. |

I'm a bit concerned re the premise of Lost Love. Supposing the lost love in question is now happily married to someone else, with half a dozen offspring. Who will be held responsible for any resulting embarrassment?

Hmm. He looks better in that picture than some of those CIN ones - if only the Mirror had noticed a year ago! |

It's not the show which is getting bigger.. It's the presenter who is putting on the extra |

Aw, it's a shame these papers can't find something else to write about. Someone on this board rightly renamed the Daily Mail the "Daily Malevolent" and the Mirror is no better for going down the same track. The guy is trying to do something about his weight, they could give him a break for a bit. |

Is that why he calls it "The BIG Show?"
Have to agree that if all the Mirror has to write about is a fat DJ, they must be struggling! _________________ MiS |

I’m not entirely convinced that people are supposed to stop growing when they reach adulthood. This idea that everyone should be like a beanpole is seriously flawed and unnatural. Other things in nature continue to grow, and get bigger as they get older; fish, lobsters, crabs, snakes, alligators, elephants, trees, grass and bushes to name just a few. So why should people be any different? Would it be so bad if people got bigger and bigger as they grow older, and instead of dieing of something awful like heart disease or liver failure, they just burst right there in the street.
“Hello…oh good you are there…. is that commercial waste … yeah ….. well there’s a guy burst all over the seating area in the precinct – can you send a cleansing team down….. thanks”….. |

While I agree the papers should be concentrating on more important things, I think the issue with Steve is that all his official photos (on the website, on his books, etc.) are completely different to what he really looks like. But that's probably true of most newspaper columnists! |

Some People do put on weight. I suppose he's out of the limelight a lot of the time and the days running around doing Roadshows have gone out the window. |

You know what? He's out of the limelight because he's fa and embarrassed of it. If he actually looked like he did on his books and website I bet he'd be everywhere. |

Here here - and to say I hardly ever listen to him, I have heard him talking about his weight on numerous occasions and how's he trying to lose the weight. I don't want slim DJs. Well, except for Lauren Laverne - I'd have her... |

He could have a chat with his colleague Alex Lester who has embarked on his own personal 'Blubberwatch' campaign.
The target is to be able to fit into the leather trousers pictured in the 15th January 2009 entry on his blog here: http://alexlesterspersonalblog.blogspot.com/ _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Mind you, the stress he copped for when Lee Mack said "It's like being reviewed by your Grandad!" when he was interviewing him about his new series of Not Going Out this afternoon might see him drop a few pounds with worry.
I would have paid a lot of money to have seen the expression on Wrighty's face when Mack came out with that!!!
Took me ten minutes to wipe the tears of laughter from my face _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Lee Mack seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. He was on this evening's The One Show as well. I wonder if it's a long walk it is from Radio 2 to the BBC 1 TV studios. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Yep - it's a long walk! Easier to get the train, but still about half-an-hour, I think.
Mack is promoting "Not Going Out" tonight at 9.30pm (co-starring Jeremy Vine's brother Tim). |

I find Sunday Love Songs almost unlistenable, largely because of the tone of most of the letters. "We've had a lot of tough times Steve, but we've somehow struggled through.." etc etc |

Will definetrly be tuning in tomorrow to hear if the lady from 1959 has found her "long lost love".
The excitement has been killing me all week. |

It just gets better and better.
The Lost Love feature today is about somebody trying to trace someone from 1948.
How utterly bloody ridiculous.
Get real BBC/Steve Wright. |

Am less than enthusiastic about this whole feature. Sending a lost love message to someone who's now married with half a dozen kids could cause embarrassment, or worse.
Ian. |
