I thought you meant his back - I know his tattoos are rather famous!
I hope he does stay at AC Milan, as it'll make it easier for him to play for England, and his talent is wasted in the US. _________________ MiS |

I really feel sorry for those kids who are pulled and pushed from one end of the world to the next. I bet LA Galaxy are not very happy as he was going to be a big brand for their team. |

I don't think the Beckham children suffer TOO badly Mark - they are extremely wealthy after all! _________________ MiS |

I'm not sure that the " ' " would have helped much Ernie. In today's climate of grammatical indifference, it may even, have worsened matters further.
"Beckhams Back"- sounds like a nice little village in the country.
"Beckham's back" is the back of Beckham in the possessive sense.
"Beckham 's back" meaning; Beckham is back, is I think,( I'm no expert though) how it should have been. It 's all about that missing space, but it comes down to style; some might say, you don't need the space, others may pop one in there, for the purposes of clarity. That 's the problem when style takes precedence over substance; we become nothing more than a colourful array of glossy coatings used to paint over our rotten, festering lives. |

A hyphen would have helped
Beckham's back - is news?
Never heard of the space for is > 's

I see that the thread title has now been edited. Of course, there should be a period (full stop) after "Beckham" if followed by "is the news?", leading to the fact that the "i" in "is" should then be capitalised. So it should read: "Beckham is back. Is this news?".

PS: Who says that I lead a "rotten, festering life"? Has somebody been snooping? |

Hmm, not quite right yet colby, I think it should be

Hey nod, chill. Some forums have a whole Pedant's Thread, and there is an Apostrophe Society.

Just read the thread nod, anyway you've altered the thread title so you acknowledged something was wrong

According to reports Beckham is saying ' he will not go back to LA Galaxy even if he has no contract at AC'. I think it's about the money what LA want, and I don't blame them as they are going to lose out of sponsor deals etc... |

It's not really a sentence because it lacks a full-stop at the end like wot this does.
Anyway....

My understanding of this (given that I find top-flight football an unending bore) is that Beckham has a contract with Galaxy, so surely he doesn't really have a choice in the matter? Or is he just being silly? |

Apparently it comes down to money, LA Galaxy want more, AC Milan don't want to pay anymore for a 34 yr old etc.
So if someone wants to pay, including Beckham from his own cash, then it could be sorted and he stays at AC Milan and achieves his goal of playing in Europe, being noticed and possibly selected for England in 2010. |

Can't he buy himself out of contract with help by the club? |
