It's been great not to have to race for the off button after SOTS on recent Saturdays.
PLEASE could LT and MF have the 10am spot permanently.
If it's essential to let Mr Ross come back, there must be a night spot that nobody wants.

Exactly the opposite for me I'm afraid.. I switched over to Gold on DAB as soon as SOTS had finished.
I caught the last 40 minutes or so as I painted an upstairs door without my DAB radio, and as last week, I found it awful radio.
Lisa freely admitted several times she's no good after two hours.. and Freeman sounds like a plank.
I'd go for Danny Baker on his own.... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I do have a soft spot for Liza Tarbuck, but it sounds a bit of a rambling, ramshackle programme. Undemanding. The sort of radio to have on while you're doing things around the house and don't want to have to concentrate on it. I'm usually out after 10.30 so don't hear enough of it (or anyone else on at that time) for it to bother me. _________________ Ron |

Lisa seems alright by herself or a good partner, but this was just poor. |

Please god hope not. They are poor presenters together. She seems to lose it after a while. |

Totally appalling radio entertainment from the first 90 minutes we heard. |

She's not really a DJ. I wish some would stick to their jobs they are best at. I suppose a lot of them are Lesley Douglas cast offs, hopefully the new controller will clean up and bring in real DJ's |

Nope. I haven't been overly impressed with any of the stand ins. It jusn't isn't Saturday morning without JR. _________________

I heard that Ross has got someone looking over his shoulder now and guide him. I guess that will take the edge off things and maybe not be himself. |

Tarbuck and Freeman, hardly must-listen, groundbreaking radio, is it?
Hope Danny is brought back, (sans Ball), to fill the remaining gap.
You may not like him but at least he comes up with fresh ideas (i.e Birthday Poker: Sexy Ghost Partners etc)
Tarbuck and Freeman's links really were two people in search of a conversation and failing miserably.
It truly was dire 'first thing that comes into your head' time-filling radio. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Well if his Twitter pages are anything to go by, he's still got his old sense of humour:
http://twitter.com/Wossy?page=1
I particularly like his defence: 'I'm a polite person - just not very good with answering machines'. |

Gillian Reynolds (in today's Telegraph) sums up the Tarbuck/Freeman extravaganza succinctly
"So what was I doing spending time with Liza Tarbuck and Martin Freeman on Radio 2 on Saturday morning? This is the latest replacement for the Jonathan Ross show. Offensive? You bet, especially to anyone without a desire to live in Liza Tarbuck's handbag. What has happened to her? She is a good actress, has done Just a Minute, presented Radio 2 shows in the past. But on Saturday she burbled. And burbled. Five minutes passed between records as she did Olympic standard burbles about shopping, iPods, chives, borage. No wonder Freeman said, at one point, "Am I still here? What am I doing here?" He was propping her up, of course, with wit, skill, discretion. Why is anyone's guess. Unless Ross is paying them." _________________ Ron |

She's not in the right medium for her talents, that's for sure. And what's worse, she's ruining what I thought was a pretty good track record. |

I thought it was a good show- I like LT- she's bright and cheery and very off the cuff: she'd be a fab on a girlie lunch and shopping trip...in a, sod the shopping, and let's have some more lunch and chat kind of way. |

I normally like Liza but that prog was awful! Love Gillian's use of "burbling" as it's just right, and I do not get this Martin Freeman thing at all - the Beeb seem to have latched on to him as their latest "personality" (sic). There are a great many RADIO people out there who know how to broadcast, why can we not have more of them on R2?

To be fair to Martin Freeman, he's being doing radio music programmes (on Radio 4, admittedly) since before he was in The Office, and in a recent appearance on BBC2's Never Mind The Buzzcocks complained that bosses had told him not to display too much musical knowledge - an attitude that just about sums up most populist broadcasting nowadays, where actually imparting information is frowned upon.
However, I do agree with your point, MIS, and wish Radio 2 would get back to hiring radio DJs/presenters who can do an entertaining show on their own. |

Interesting Ian, I must admit I didn't know that he'd been doing that. Still don't think he's a "radio man" though! _________________ MiS |

The BBC have announced that JR is to return, in all three of his programmes, in three weeks time, so the cosy mid-morning girlie-chat type show will be lost to the old-lads-hungover one, and, when he's on holiday, the Darby-and-Joan (Mark Lemarr/Jo Brand) type one _________________ Ron |

Just as long as Wossy is bound and gagged, and that sidekick chap does all the talking and plays the music- it'll be great to have him back. |

They say there is no such thing as bad publicity, but JR's book 'Why do I say these things' has flopped badly according to a report I saw in a Sunday paper. I won't be rushing to listen to him on Radio 2 or watch his Friday night show. The man who said he was worth a thousand BBC journalists may find he is in fact not worth a carrot anymore. |
