I'm a day late with this but happy 91st birthday to Lena Horne.
She must have made a legion of recordings over the years but gained special fame with her very funny late 50s novelty disc, a New-Fangled Tango, which had a good deal of airplay at the time and still crops up occasionally via Desmond Carrington.

She was one of my mums favourite singers some years ago
I remember the disc she did with Harry Belefonte of "Porgy & Bess". Gorgeous!
i also like the song she did "Now!", to the tune of Hava Nagila! |

I remember hearing her doing a very erotic rendition of "Surrey With A Fringe On Top" and thinking "how do you make that song sound saucy?" but she did!!!
