I am just listening to the last hour of this, as I missed it after listening to the second hour. The music has been great, after the 1st hour, IMHO, still don't know the outcome, don't think it matters as The Beatles, Stones & Queen are some of my favourite bands. Just don't know where The Who, Kinks, Yardbirds, Led Zep, Hollies or Blind Faith were, especially with Take That in the last 5, as I don't see how they can compare with any of those I have listed. What do other posters think

I did hear the 'nearly rans' list where the Spice Girls were mentioned and I was left wondering where Pink Floyd were. For all the Spice Girls' sexiness etc, how would that alone qualify any group/band as Britain's greatest? |

How Pink Floyd are not amongst the final 5 is very surprising indeed.
Take That -give me a break.
Who won by the way? |

I listened to this and was frankly stunned to hear that the Spice Girls even got nominated by R2 listeners.

I'm afraid I didn't listen to it on principle.... but I'm not really a fan of these vote-in-and-it-becomes-established-fact type shows, they're more like filler to me.
You could almost bet your house on Queen, the Beatles and Oasis being in a phone-in poll of the Top 5, whilst serial text-ers whose IQs aren't necessarily much higher than their shoe sizes but whose progeny will be born with elongated thumbs to compensate for this deficency could almost be guaranteed to put a boy band somewhere in the Top 10. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

It was Queen. Take That were the first to be ousted. |

I'm glad queen won, I cannot believe Take That got into the top 5 above the likes of Pink Floyd, the Who, Genesis, The police even Abba were better but they were not british. |

I felt Mark was pushed into hosting the show as he's a big part of Radio 2 now? |

I thought the guy who threw his hat in the ring on behalf of The Stones, was excellent. He gave a fab '10 second' round up or whatever you call it. _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

Well once Oasis were gone, of those left, it made no difference, IMHO, as each in their own way are the greatest.

I'm glad the Rolling Stones didn't win - as anyone listening at about 2.05pm would have heard! |
