Having finally got rid of the builders and cleared some more space so that my gorgeous Steve can move in with me at last.
The sun shone, the lambs made a bid for freedom by jumping on top of the bails of straw, leaving their frightened mamas bleating below, and two of my cockerels decided to have a fight to the death over a piece of lawn. Soon settled them with a large bass broom. One of the chickens is sitting on a dozen eggs, so should be having little ones around soon. In fact, at the moment life is very good.

At long last meeting face-to-face someone who's been a telephone pal in my working life for a long time.
I'll be seeing the two grandchildren at the weekend!

Finally getting the day off tomorrow to allow me to head down to the Derwent Reservoir to photograph the 75th Anniversary Dambusters Flypast from one of the nearby hillsides.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Spring in England. Believe me, until you spend time out of the country, nothing is so magical as daffodils, bluebells, lilacs, aubretia, magnolia, etc etc. in England. We are now changing our previously 2-way split domicile to include France, England and Spain but I know where I'll aways want to be during May and June. You guys are so lucky! |

Tuning into the Drivetime Show today and hearing the mighty Richard Allinson instead of the dire Chris Evans.
Certainly hearing Richard again gives me a feel good factor about the world again.
Allinson rocks. |

It was a late Spring this year. You want to be in England in March/ April usually. By June it should be a arid wasteland. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

It's my last Monday at work today before retirement.Woohoo! Next week ( my last week - no Monday!!) then it's Freelance Domestic Goddess 24/7. I'm not really retiring of course( I'm not old enough). Just giving up this work thing as a bad lot. They've had 25 years of my life. I'll take some time to chill before deciding what to do next- something creative I think |

Know how you feel Rachel!
I got made redundant two years ago, semi-retired with a bit of a pension, but for some needed income I went self-employed and so far I still earn enough just working Tues/Wed/Thurs
Monday mornings are GREAT!
I posted this earlier, made me laugh, some folks may have missed it:

I'm sure to find something to keep me amused John, I'm both excited and a bit nervous. As much as I like hoovering - it's not really a substitute for 9-5 in the office. I feel a book coming on- my head is bursting with stuff- all nonsense though - it won't be a book about Economics, British Maritime Doctrine or 25 Years Pressed against the Glass Ceiling-My Memoirs.... sure to be something pointless but mildly amusing
I'll have to check-out the You-tube link when I get home tonight. The dull crowd in IT here have blocked a lot of the fun websites. |

Loads of angry 'supporters' of Bristol C**y F.C. (1982) Ltd (including 2 at work) who weren't able to get tickets to see their team get beaten at Wembley next Saturday.
It makes I laugh! _________________ . . . From The Asteroid Belt, Peter de Meteor |

Rachel-I'm surprised you have not mentioned it-setting up a fan club for Alex Lester your hero is surely your retirtement mission or even better becoming his agent.
Just a thought. |

Hi Mark,
Interesting idea! I'm a walking, talking, breathing Alex Fan-Club: care to join? Seriously " I'm the ONLY Alex fan in the Village" so to have a "club" would be psychologically counter-productive to that core conviction. Anyway, after what my hubby said to me last night, I doubt very much that Alex would want me running his fan club. It was just after we'd had tea (Lasagne) .. I washed up and made some tea ( Earl Grey for him - Builders Tea for me). While in the kitchen making the tea, I nibbled on some crackers.( I was hungry!) So into the lounge with the tea - plonked it down on the coffee table ( is there such a thing as a tea table?) anyway, I leaned over to kiss him and he said, "You've been eating biscuits!" " Butter Puffs" I replied , he then said , "you sounded just like Sarah Kennedy then". For the rest of the evening he replied with "Butter Puffs" to every question..... Harrumph!
Being his agent is something I'd like to do..... cogs ticking... |

Last night it was all laughs in our house- I was brushing up on my French for: well not for anything really I just was, and doing it while watching the telly too. That nice Gordon Ramsay chap was on. We have that free-view thing in our house but because we're right on the hairy edge of getting a good signal - every time a car goes past- it locks up and makes a hissy crackly noise. After a wee while my hubby said, what with the telly making odd noises and me spouting off in poor French-it was like listening to Radio Luxembourg 30 years ago. He attempted to put me out of my misery but came to his senses when I said it wouldn't look good for the vicar to take his wife out with a scatter cushion. Inbound! I did try to retaliate by launching a cushion counter attack from a safe distance as I beat a hasty retreat but he caught it one handed ( he plays cricket you see) and caught up with me half-way up the stairs..... |

It's Friday.
It's the Bank Holiday weekend.
The sun's shining, at least up here.
I've just finished a particularly exacting job, which won't recur for a bit now.

A nice couple of pints of mild ale to wash down dinner. And looking forward to a half decent drivetime show next week (must make a mental note to myself to listen next week - Sorry Lammo, I'll be back soon!) _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

The weather forecast for today was cloudy with a few sunny intervals.
In fact the sun has shone brilliantly all day.
I've worked in the garden and taken my older grandson to the park.
Hurrah!

Never really a fan of ND-more my mum and dad's era but tonight's programme is great-some really good songs.
Pity about the backing singers |

Earlier today on Allinsons Albums Richard played the John Lennon song No 9 Dream-it really cheered me up as it brought back some really great memories. I love this song.
Made me want to dig out my old John Lennon CD's. |

In the mood for a real clear up around here, I made two trips in my truck to the scrap yard loaded with metal junk. For my efforts, I made £216 in scrap value!
On the second trip however, the crane operator asked if I wanted him to "pick off" the scrap with his massive grab.. Fine I said, but please be careful of my old truck, it's my pride and joy.
Needless to say, in an attemt to pick up something along side, he nudged it and dented one of the side drop down panels...
I didn't complain, no doubt there are many " at owner's risk" signs somewhere. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

It's my first day of retirement today!! I've retired twenty three years early. Hubby's gone to tend the flock. I slept in 'til eight o'clock on a work day! It's lovely and sunny too- have no clue what I'm going to do today but first of all, I should get dressed and have some muesli....
No more corporate capers.
I can't stop smiling |

A few evenings ago I went for a Chinese takeaway for the family and quite unexpectedly, whilst I was waiting for my meal order, through the door came a mate whom I hadn't seen for about two years.
Five minutes of handshaking, backslapping and gossip enhancement followed, up to the arrival of my order.
A real pleasure!

What's cheered me up? LloydsTSB has just reduced our business overdraft limit as part of their "annual review of business facilities".
Thanks guys. When we didn't need it they were chucking money at us....... _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Eleanor Rigby, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door. |
