Haven't noticed a topic on this show as yet. Tonight's will be the 3rd in the hour long series and as usual the tracks are superb!
There are to be guest appearances in a few week's time but sorry can't recall who Suzi said they would be.
You can catch last Saturday's on Listen Again if you are quick.

Of all the recent changes on Saturday and weeknights (with the exception of course of Mr.Dylan's show), this is a true highlight, and listening to the music she plays on a Saturday night is FINALLY a good piece of scheduling! Suzi plays a lot of music in the hour and, as always, is laid back and relaxed in presentation. Praise where praise is due, Ms. Douglas! |

It is good listening for a summer Saturday night.
Tonight's was great, especially the last 5 tracks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/quatro/playlist.shtml

I liked the Elvis segment and the Dorsey Burnette and Ricky Nelson tracks. I think the Ricky song was an alternate take but very enjoyable! |

I missed the show but King Creole is one of my favourites - both track and film. The opening section where he sings "Crawfish" on the balcony is superb.
How I wish Elvis had made just a few more films like this!
I also loved the section in the bar when he sang "If you're looking for trouble..." - gives me goosebumps even now. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

It's both 50's and 60's so far.

Yeah, but she plays 'new' versions of 50s and 60s songs too.
Not a bad show - very mellow. Pity that Russell Brand comes crashing in straight after... |

I remember an interview with Tim Whitnall who played Elvis way back with PJ Proby being the older version, and I think Shaky was the third Elvi!
Anyway, Tim also did the song 'Trouble' in the Jack Good musical as Cliff Richard would do it. Very polite and very British. Then he did the Elvis take on the song, and said Elvis did it like a load of scaffolding falling off a lorry!
I've asked Suzi to play 'Winkie Doll' by Billy Dolton for me, because it is in fact by Glen Campbell under a pseudonym! The chorus goes 'Dakkochan, Dakkochan' which is apparently a sixties era Japanese doll! |
