Maybe these are the first stages of Lesley Douglas breaking up the Wogan crew ahead of Richard Hammond taking over breakfast next year... |

I see the final Janet and John CD is on it's way. I guess Richard Allinson could be taking over breakfast for a while until they find a replacement if Wogan does pack in? Maybe this is why he's not covering much else? Just a hunch. |

Hi Dean/ Scott- No, I don't think Richard Hammond will be taking over from Terry Wogan next year. |

There is no indication that Terry will 'pack it in' soon though is there, Fran leaving dosen't mean it will happen any sooner. |

Will Fran still be reading the news, or is she leaving Radio 2 altogether? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Had a quick look over there but couldn't see where it was. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Wasn't Fran ill a month or so ago?

Helen you will find it here, the e mail quoted is one that's being passed between Togs at the moment, though where it originated from I have no idea, which is why I thought I'd see if any of you over here might know anything .

Thanks for that, it does seem strange if she is going. I hope she isn't ill, which of course could explain why Terry didn't make a fuss if it was her last appearance on Friday last.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think it's a wind up and from the original email it sounds like somebody has it in for Lynn. I don't see how Fran would be pushed out in favour of her. After all Fran is/was a newsreader Lynn is a traffic reporter Maybe fran has been moved in favour of another newsreader.
I hpe Fran is ok, she wasn't my favourite but there isn't much to not like about her. It does remind me a bit of Pauly though, god rest his soul. He just kind of 'left' and never went back.
Hopefully it's nothing like that and she's just taken early retirement or something. |

I wondered that as well. I've always liked her so hope all is well.
I can't see it as a Lynn/Fran thing either.

When I read the thread, according to Mick Sturbs it's a decision made on high and will not be reversed.....
Any Togs out there could let them know about the radio POV board, if they all posted on there, they might get somewhere, though I doubt it.

How sad that it's Fran thinks it's her fault.

This is really weird. I always loved Fran's interplay with Wogan and Pauly back in the old days; and she continues to make me laugh the most out of the other newsreaders. I suppose we don't know the full story but it's still weird. |

Seems odd, but I can only assume it's part of some reorganisation of the news readers (longer hours, less shifts?) as part of the cost-cutting. A shame that Wogan either doesn't care or has no clout. |

Longer hours, less shifts? Is that happening? I haven't noticed any differences. |

I doubt STW had any say in the matter, to be honest I can't see that he would not care about Fran being dropped, he's just not that kind of person.
They've really got it in for Lynn on the TOGs site haven't they, sad really. I mean at the end of the day it's only radio not a matter of life and death. |

To be honest, I haven't been paying that much attention. But I imagine it would be easier to schedule blocks that anyone can fill rather than setting aside a couple of hours each morning that just a few newsreaders can go in.
Although, I don't see why that means Fran will never be back. Perhaps I'm being overly generous about BBC management... |

Delighted to hear that Fran Godfrey was back on the early newsreading shift on Xmas Day & Boxing Day. Some excellent repartee with the Rev Rog, Aled Jones and Johnny Walker. She obviously appreciates conversation at a higher level than the smut served up by Wogan, Marsh and the other time served pensioners with whom she had to work before moving to evenings. Hopefully when TW goes she will be restored to the
morning rosta. |

Totally agree.
Fran Godfrey is my favourite newsreader-good to hear on Radio 2 with Terry Wogan no where in sight.
Fran is a class act and works well with all the presenters (especially Richard Allinson). |

I like Fran too, she seems like a really nice friendly person. I wouldn't want her back with Wogan particuarly since I don't listen to him anymore and given the way she's been treated I'm not sure she would want to go back. |

I heard Wogan mentioning Fran was on with his Pre-Record was aired on Christmas Day. He didn't say much. |
