This has to be a joke, or a supreme piece of irony. How on earth can Brand be considered worthy of any award other than "Most irritating tw*t" ? _________________ MiS |

Doesn't surprise me in the least, when you consider who's on the committee that has chosen the shortlist from the list of those nominated by the radio stations - http://www.radioawards.org/aboutus/committee.php
Probably accounts for Dermot O'Leary's place as well.
The result is a foregone conclusion, because the other nominees are useless (although I haven't heard Toolan In The Morning). I can't believe that Trent's Jo and Twiggy are on the list again - they've been pedalling the same tripe for so long I'm reminded of Jimmy Edwards' self-deprecating joke about Pontius the Pilate. _________________ Ron |

Glad it's not just me. I really think these once-prestigious awards have become an embarrassment. _________________ MiS |

And the greatest 6 music loathario of the moment, George Lamb, has been nominated for 'Rising Star'. Guess who is on the panel - Yes it's her http://www.pictogame.com/play/game/UGgdpwBcy4VD_kick-girl

Having LD on the panel is like letting a lion into a cage full of things that lions eat! _________________ MiS |

It's the same as when Chris Evans was nominated when he'd been at the station for less than a year.

If I remember rightly, it was for his 'Breakfast'show. _________________ Geddon

Yeah, it's all a con - I'm pretty sure all the nominees are put forward by the stations anyway. So bascially LD wants to justify her hirings and puts them forward, rather than some consensus being reached.
It's a shame, especially when shows I really like (eg Moths Ate My Doctor Scarf) have been nominated and I feel that's a bit tarnished. |

It would have been a bloody miracle if Fish had got Best Music Programme Award for Fish On Friday (Planet Rock). As it is he's like the token folk act at the Mercury Who Shall We Saturate Uncut With This Year show, or the token black person on I'll Plug Any Show Andrew Lord Elpus Is Producing.
Fish was robbed! As was Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

It's about time someone mentioned Johnnie Walker's nomination in the Music Programme category.
It's good to see some common sense in the nomination list, and good that this great broadcaster has not been forgotten about since his relief of daytime duties 2 years ago.
Congrats JW, hope you put Dermot O Leary in his place! |

I thought the Radio industry is people who are deducted to Music Radio? Brand doesn't know anything about Music. He's trying to break into America so hope he will stay there and the BBC doesn't have to keep paying to have have his show coming from the US? |

Surely that would only apply to JO Brand? |
