Now that Richard has finished up on BFBS Radio 2 where do you think he should pitch up next.
No doubt he is receiving various offers currently which he can then choose from.
Personally I would like him to secure a daily show on BBC 6 Music with a 2 or 3 hour show similar to the format of the one he had on BFBS Radio 2.
What do other fans of Richard think. |

Mark,
Richard sent me a nice email saying he was looking forward to a break, but not for too long we hope. Like your idea of R6, still holding out for a permanent slot on R2 like 2'5 or 5-7 _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Hi Andy-Had a couple of nice e-mails myself from Richard over the last couple of days.
It would be reallly fantastic if Richard was to secure a regular show on BBC Radio 2-not sure if this will happen though with Lesley Douglas as the Controller though.
Still I would be delighted if he was given a regular gig on 6 Music-I think he would fit in very well on this station-inddede we all know Richard loves the music scene-after all 6 Music certainly has more emphasis on the music played as to opposed to Radio 2 which these days have very few music biased presenters-the likes of Brand, Wright, Wogan, Kennedy are not interested in the music content of their shows at all.
Will be keeping my eyes peeled re news on Richard's hopefully new destination.

Yes, Mark that's right, it's why I've not been around these boards so much - haven't been listening to much so nothing to comment on. Stuart's Saturday show was one of Radio 2's saving gracs, now gone the journey. Not a bad idea Radio 6. Maybe, maybe.... _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Thanks Mark for taking my idea from the POV Board. Who knows.. BBC Local.
I think it's strange why people keep hounding him thinking he will break and give it away. Looks like he's not got anything at present, or still under contract with the BBC and can't work for anyone else at present, which is common practice.. |

It's too much to hope he'll return to a regular gig on R2 - I think that's too much to ask for in the current climate of the 'celeb' presenters and other oxygen thieves that inhabit the network nowadays. Why employ knowledgeable, respectable and hard-working DJs when you can throw megabucks at a Z-list celeb who is in-between TV jobs and pretend they've got a voice for radio? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Cherskiy-Could not agree more with your sentiments expressed here.
Your wording re knowledgeable, respectable and hard working is a perfect description of Richard Allinson.
Sadly no room on Radio 2 for such a person. |

I too would like to hear the return of Richard to Radio 2 with his own show, and as you say, he would also fit into 6 music. But, as you've deduced though, his departure from R2 was a 'Douglas Disaster Decision'. Sorry to pour cold water on your dreams of hearing him on 6 music, but the berluddy great bluebottle in the ointment there is, you've guessed it, one Lesley Douglas. Yes, she controls 6 music too and is doing just as bad a job of it as R2. Go on, give her a kick, you know you want to!! http://www.pictogame.com/play/game/UGgdpwBcy4VD_kick-girl
You can even boot Brand now!! http://www.pictogame.com/play/game/zafHoNB9bL0j_kick-boy _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

I've often wondered why, if Allinson is so good, does he keep getting fired? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Ernie-You are incorrect. Richard does not KEEP getting fired.
He has only been let go once by Radio 2- from Saturday afternoons. He gave up his weekday evening show on Radio 2 by his own choice.
His latest departure from BFBS is purely down to budget cuts. |

Mark not from what you kept saying on POV and this MB. You kept blaming Lesley Douglas for getting rid of him from the late show and Saturday show. So you are changing your mind now? I don't need evidence to prove this. I can remember things like an elephant
There looks like budget cuts at Radio 2!!! Doesn't the government fund some of BFBS as it's under the MOD operator and Ofcom give them an licence to broadcast along with a little from AUNTIE BBC? |

.... "I can remember things like an elephant"-an interesting statement.
Richard gave up the late night weekday show in June 2004 which was completely his own choice.
I was out of the country working overseas for much of that year without access to the internet.
Might you be confusing me with someone else. |

Martin Kelner keeps getting fired and I really like his kind of humour.
As Robert Kennedy once said in regard to another matter... 'The only way to stop bad decisions being made is to fire the people who are making them!' |
