Besides Monday's dross (except for Wogan) Tuesday to Friday on R2 have been real a pleasure to listen to - gone are the likes of Steve Wright, Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans, instead we have good DJs such as Bob Harris, Mark Goodier etc. Oh yes, and Richard Allinson for those that seem to love the guy.
I'm looking forward to Mark Radcliffe making a welcome return, but it will be a damn shame to lose the always excellent Stuart Maconie.
At least Steve Wright is also absent next week. Bliss. |

Bob is genuinely enthusiastic about the tracks he plays on his shows and you can't fault that. |

Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and not afraid to plug/feature some of the less well-known artists that he usually plays on his Saturday show, on the Drivetime slot this week. I wonder what he'll play this afternoon? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I enjoyed Paul Merton standing in for Mark Radcliffe - he really seemed to enjoy his choices of music!
The Melanie song 'Any Guy' was new to me - I swear she subconsciously influenced Cerys Matthews as a singer.
he also played Barb Jungr's 'Things Have Changed' from her album of Dylan covers - Barb Jungr sang on the 'Sticky Moments' series that Paul Merton and Julian Clary worked on. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

I completely agree that this last weeks schedules have been great.
If they had also given the smug Ken Bruce a couple of weeks off (ideally a permanent break) then it would have been perfect.
Really delighted Richard Allinson was brought back for a stint-his breakfast shows have been excellent. |

Keeping him for 'Listen Again' on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon... I take it he's been on top form this week? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Sorry to disagree but apart from Drivetime (it doesn't exist as far as I am concerned) I'll be glad when things get back to normal schedules.
Richard Allinson has been great though.

No disrespect to the elves filling in this week. But... lets face it, it's not the proper donkey is it. You could be listening to any radio show on any station. I really have not bothered to listen much this week and doubt I will till the experts are back....
Happy New Year ......... wonder if this post will end up in The Coffee House.... |

I'll have you know Bonking Biker that I could never be out of step. My dancing skills have been compared to the great Cliff Richard.
Organ Grinders and Mokeys though.... reminds me of that great song by James Blunt. |
