I was forlornly hoping Radio 2 would maybe take a step backwards and play a more varied style of music but my hopes have been dashed yet again.
Yet again we're getting certain records being played to within an inch of their life- Jack Johnson and Adele being the main culprits this time.
You've got Steve Wright after a good start to the year, sinking back into his totally repetitive music playlist(check his music played this week and count how many times he's repeated music just in one week if you don't believe me) ie Jennifer Lopez being played every day since November.
Listen to tracks of my years and the non stop oldies, great selections and styles of music totally ignored by the people in charge.
I know I've moaned before but listening figures will continue to go down if it carries on like this. |

Listening figures HAVE come down, and I think you've identified a main reason.
It's just the same songs over and over. Adele has been played to death, but The Feeling must come close. And as for that God-awful "Elvis Ain't Dead" by Scouting For Girls... it's made all the worse by sounding exactly the same as their last overplayed record. |

Speaking of Elvis, I recommend 'On Elvis Presley's Birthday' by Elliott Murphy, especially the live version (sic)! Elliott tells the tale of his own late father who loved Elvis's music. When you see him sing this song on the DVD, it is powerful stuff indeed. |

You'd think Adele was The Second Coming the way she's been hyped.
The Jennifer Lopez song just makes me think of Tavares's 'It Only Takes A Minute', which it samples. I don't expect the One Hundred Ton & A Feather version to be played currently. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

That Kylie 'Two Hearts' song does my head in. That recurring 'Woo' seems stolen from the Bonzos' 'Trouser Press'! _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.
