Can't remember if/how to split a thread on here so the recent comments on Clive's show are quoted here

RockitRon wrote: | Monday Dec 17, 2007: I generally like Clive Anderson but, like everyone who has followed in Michael's footsteps, be it on tv or radio, all the interviews seem rushed, and he cannot resist the temptation to jump in and take over with his own view and witticisms. I'm all for a lively discussion but you sometimes wonder why he asks guests on - poor Jane Horrocks must have felt like she'd been left stranded at the quayside after the great cruise liner Parkinson had sailed off into the sunset.
It was a shame that, his producer having pounced upon the new 4CD collection of Flanders & Swann recordings, he then played the three songs that always get played, rather than something slightly rarer.
His little barbed comment earlier about the novelty of playing a track by someone who was still alive suggests the playlist isn't necessarily to his taste so perhaps the format, or his tenure of it anyway, has a short use-by date. |

Clive Anderson is an airhead. He should stick to Channel 4 where he belongs. |

Well. That's the empirical view of the board intellect. End of discussion. _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |

Oh, give over. He really knows his stuff, is very quick off the mark, and presents with an enthusiasm and wit that others could do well to learn from. And he's not been on Channel 4 for years! |

I have never been impressed with Clive Anderson including his TV work. He grates on me. |

Clive Anderson is excellent on Sunday mornings. I'm not such a big fan of his chatroom show on the comedy hour though. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Clive gets my vote too. I hear he is only on for this month though. |

That's what I understand too - a very great shame. I wonder who will permanently replace Parky then? |

Johnnie Walker will. I lay money on it!
Sunday daytimes will sound like this from next month:
7.00am Good Morning Sunday
9.00 Steve Wright's Sunday Love Dross
11.00 Johnnie Walker
1.00pm Elaine Paige
2.30 Pick of the Pops
4.30 Ed Stewart
6.30 - midnight the usual stuff I hate! |

You could well be right! I do so wish they would ditch the awful Elaine Paige in the near future! |

Will Dame Lesley wipe the egg off her face when Ed returns? Or could it be Richard Allinson in the 4.30pm slot?

Can we all be given the chance of throwing eggs at Lesley Douglas? |

I would welcome Richard Allinson back with open arms! Get rid of Dermot O'Leary and give Saturday teatimes back to Dicky Dawn! |

Getting back to the original subject if I may I do find Clive Anderson slightly annoying at times but in general I like him, he's a clever bloke maybe slightly smarmy but then most presenters are I guess. |
