|
|
I had the unfortunate experience of hearing Chris Evans on the way home (I only put the radio on for the travel news as the traffic was quite heavy on the A13).
I heard Chris comment that Michael Parkinson is leaving Radio 2 (yes, it's common knowledge, Chris ). He also commented that he went drinking in Parky's pub yesterday afternoon (and missed Parky by 5 minutes - altogether now: awwwww! ).
Chris Evans wants to have Parky's jingle when he leaves. Why? Has he got bored with Danny Baker's old one? |

Why? |

At least Scott listening to him. He's a secret listener in his car. I wonder why he couldn't tune out on the way home? |

I heard him shouting in that section too and the part where the kid said she'd made Coq au vin which caused Mr Evans to practically bellow down the mike.
It really is true that he shouts for most of the show isn't it? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I understand that to be true. He needs a sedative. Or a laxative. Or both! |

Mark, be rest assured that my ears were only glued to Chris Evans' show when he mentioned Parky is leaving (like we don't already know). I thought maybe Evans was going to reveal who Parky's successor is, but instead he spouted a load of loud nonsense.
I soon switched over to Classic FM. |

Well, I can accept that you don't like the man himself but what about the variety of music he plays on his shows? who will continue to provide us this kind of music with the knowledge he has.
Scott, you've already admitted that to get rid of Ed Stewart was a big mistake although you heavily criticised his show in the past.
His show hasn't been replaced and I miss his music mix ( and gentle humour ) for sure!
It's great for me because I love to hear not only Sinatra, but big band music, Crosby, Fitzgerald etc.. even though I don't know the names of the artists or the tracks but I love to hear them all the same, and Sunday morning is just right for this type of show.
Last Sunday's show featured J Dankworth's experiences and featured a "comedy" track he recorded featuring all his band members, can't think what it was called but it was just great! I'm not going to hear Ross or Wrighty playing this stuff! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Hello Santa. There was a good programme about Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine on BBC4 TV last evening. Real musicians playing instruments and singers who could sing beautifully. Those were the days!
I hope whoever takes over from Parky keeps this music going. As you say it's ideal for a relaxing Sunday morning. I also enjoyed Desmond Carrington's show this week. Wonderful mixture as per usual! |

It doesn't look like Ed Stewart's show will ever be replaced. A large amount of listeners have therefore been disenfranchised as a result - and Lesley Douglas doesn't seem to give a hoot. |
