Kick out the over-paid, egotistical gobby presenters now being kept by us all and replace them with presenters who don't assume that their listeners have the IQ of a gnat. |

Chris Evans would be one of them I presume? |

I'm saying nothing. It would only upset Ernest and the Mark O Slow News Service. |

LOL! Well, my first task would be to restructure the breakfast show format. One of the presenters would be axed (I'll not say who in case it upsets the Demon Headmaster). Let's just say that Terry Wogan would be made to get up earlier and work longer. |

The first task I would perform if I were the fat controller would be to sack Steve Wright and replace him with Richard Allinson with a completely new format for the 2-5pm show.
Aagh-that feels better. |

Good idea, Mark!
Richard Allinson is much to good to lose. |

Yep. Agreed. I feel better now as well. Thank you! Help yourself to a beer - there's loads in the fridge, by the way. |

As tempting as it may sound, there’s so much more to being the Controller than just getting your own way all the time. Everything at Radio 2 exists in a delicate balance, as Controller you must understand and maintain that balance.
One day you will crave the very shows you seek to axe now, and only then will you understand how we are all connected across broadcasting world. |

Lesley Douglas hasn't got a clue what she's doing! Sack the Controller and most of the rabble she's brought to Radio 2 (Chris Evans, Russell Brand, Dermot O'Leary, Matthew Wright, Elaine Paige, Alan Titchmarsh, etc).

I think Lesley Douglas' BEST signing is Pete Mitchell!
Pete Mitchell definitely does rock! |

Perhaps we should collectively submit the best ideas (obviously we will need a few more of them on this thread) to Lesley Douglas advising her these are the ideas from dedicated fans of BBC Radio 2.
After all this site is recognised by the BBC. |

Lesley Douglas won't listen UNLESS the suggestions include loudmouths, celebrities, singers and TV presenters - just the breed who are RUINING Radio 2 right now. |

Do you think we ought to make it clear that we really hate Evans in the drivetime chair? Perhaps we're understating our case? Just a thought.... |

According to Lesley Douglas, Chris Evans is doing a "fantastic job" on Drivetime! |

Scott-Don't be a defeatist-can you not get together with John Wright and collectively pen the best/most popular ideas.
You never know what might happen/transpire as a result. After all Lesley and her colleagues have to take on board feedback from some sources surely. |

RA's 'completely new format' might be interesting ? |

John and I both have different outlooks for Radio 2. I disapprove of Sarah Kennedy and Steve Wright remaining on the station stagnating the airwaves; I disapprove of Chris Evans being on Drivetime (I still think he would be better on the 2.00 - 5.00pm slot in place of His Royal Smugness); I disapprove of the messed-up weeknight evening schedule from 10pm - 12.30am; I disapprove of Dermot O'Leary and Russell Brand being on Radio 2 full-stop; I disapprove of Desmond Carrington, the current Friday and Sunday night schedules, Sunday Love Songs (this show is pure cheese).
I could e-mail my ideas to Lesley Douglas, as could John, but we would both have a different perspective on the subject. There are broadcasters I would love to hear on Radio 2 (Danny Baker, Richard Allinson (he should never have been axed), Marc Riley and Chris Tarrant) whereas John would want totally different broadcasters on the network.
If the truth be known, Lesley Douglas would probably opt for most of my suggestions (because they're modern) whereas some of John's are simply a step back in time - and step in the wrong direction.
I am fed up with Lesley Douglas bringing celebrities to Radio 2 to the expense of professional radio presenters. If Lesley Douglas thinks Russell Brand and his puerile nonsense is right for Radio 2 then she is even more stupid than I previously thought. Saturday nights on Radio 2 used to be for music enthusiasts, now they're for louts.

I wouldn't waste my time contacting her, as explained above.

Having used up so much of her annual budget on him, she could hardly say any different - in public at least - unless she really did want to put a noose around her professional neck! |

I was tuned to Chris Evans the day the RAJAR's were released. You could tell he was grinning as he spoke of Lesley Douglas' praise for him! |

I do think Pete Mitchell is good broadcaster!! Rachel is right, you need the balance between the older and younger listener. I don't enjoy listening to Russell Brand. I have said in the past 'he's not right for the station, but as he's here now. I will switch off and leave him to the rest who enjoy his shows.
I think the direction the station is going is very mixed. It's got it's ups and downs, and wrongs and rights. Overall Lesley Douglas and her crew have made it still be the nations most listened.
I think it's wrong now saying lets sack him or her? Those broadcasters who the members of this forum are asking for the chop generate a lot of listeners to the network. |

I think he's an appalling broadcaster - there are many better on the myriad of BBC local stations. |

I tend to agree-Pete Mitchell is not doing too well on BBC Radio 2 just now-he's lost the hunger for broadcasting imho. |

Hey, lay off Pete Mitchell! At least he's not a loudmouth like Chris Evans and Russell Brand. Also, Pete has an impeccable musical knowledge - unlike some on Radio 2 who could write theirs down on the back of a postage stamp. |

The first thing anyone should do if made controller should be to AXE THE PLAYLIST.
Peoples choices of presenters is subjective, I personally like Chris Evans, but I think the repetition of the same 5 or 6 records is a bugbear of everybody. |

I agree; the playlist is way too repetitive, even more so when Steve Wright plays the same track twice in an hour... |
