I usually enjoy Sir Terence's contributions to my waking up process. But, given his comfortable position, wasn't it a tad insensitive for him to joke about negative equity this morning? This could be a far-from-amusing reality for some in time to come.

That's the sort of joke I would expect the smug Sarah Kennedy to come up with.
Shame on you, Terry. No wonder your ratings are going down. |

Was he speaking the truth? I missed it, but he seems to come out with bizzare things on a yearly basis. |

I dont think Terry making a joke about house prices will influence the price of property & bring about negative equity. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Shouldn't this topic be moved to the Gripes Section, Mark? |

Methinks Wogan was dared to shove a carrot down there by Chris Evans... |

I may as well open the can of worms a bit further!
He implied that negative equity was a punishment visited on the population for voting Gabby Logan off Strictly Come Dancing.
I find this a slightly sore subject, as a friend of mine went through all that a few years ago.
But next time I'll try and remember to put anything like this on to the Gripes section.

What? A friend voted Gabby Logan off Strictly Come Dancing and suffered serious repercussions? |

When they go onto these shows they know that they maybe voted off. It's all sour grapes. You can't blame Kate Garraway getting votes as she's got a good fan base on GMTV. The BBC spokesman did comment that sometimes there are shock results. |

Since he was also heard berating the chorus of complainants about the public voting for Kate Garraway and others who can scarcely put one foot in front of the other over both her and Penny Stewart (along the lines of Lighten up - What else do you expect from a popular entertainment show?) I think it should be taken in the jocular manner in which it was very probably intended (it may even have been a TOG's observation he was relaying).
Negative equity is no joke for people who suffer it; at the moment the principal factor outside the control of borrowers (interest rates) doesn't look as though it is going to be the problem it was last time so that hopefully negative equity by forced sale or repossession will not either. _________________ Ron |

I can't believe anyone would take such a comment so seriously I don't listen to Terry anymore as I prefer the Today program but surely you must know by now what sort of letters he reads out. |
