Hi all,
I need some advice and hopefully you can all put my mind at ease!
Earlier this evening, I was driving down London Road, West Thurrock, at 30mph (the permitted speed limit) when I suddenly approached a speed camera. When I drove past it, the camera flashed twice. I immediately looked at my speedometer and I was driving at exactly 30mph.
Would the camera have flashed me for that?
I'm not too sure of the camera flashed me or the car behind. The camera didn't flash until I approached the end of the dotted white lines that are laid out in the road by at all speed cameras. I did notice that the car behind me was a little close behind me further up the road, so perhaps the car behind got flashed? Or maybe it was an oncoming vehicle (not that I noticed one but one could have driven past me).
I don't know what to do now! |

It may have been the car behind - or the one coming in the opposite direction. If you were doing 30 you've got little to worry about (give it a few weeks and see whether a letter comes through the post). I've been in similar situations when on or just under the limit - someone once overtook me heading towards a camera - it flashed, but a policeman friend of mine told me they wouldn't be prosecuted because the Gatsos don't work for oncoming traffic (the digital ones do, though). _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
A number of work colleagues have echoed what you have. As I was driving at the correct speed limit then I shouldn't have anything to worry about. I've never been flashed at before (not even by a sex fiend!), so the whole experience was a bit scary for me! |

Scott, the easiest way to get out of it is to tell them that it was Larry Mann who was driving, not you!!! |
