What a treat on the way home yesterday. The end of 'Tango' Dale, the JW opening jingle, The 'Keeping the dream alive' by Freiheit. Radio at its best!! _________________ Geddon

Well it was all right I suppose. At least it was live. Unless he knew in advance that Hamilton would get stuck in the gravel
But what was that awful Superman song that he played. Pure garbage. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I enjoyed hearing that again. I remember hearing it for the first time as I was stuck in traffic at Hangar Lane Gyratory on the way out of Shepherd's Bush on a wet and miserable Friday evening and I was mesmerised by "Superman" - it certainly got people's backs up simply because it was so different! Lots of sampling and processing going on there. Very innovative. |

I have to agree with Ernie on this. It drives me nuts. I have to switch it off whenever I hear it.
It's called 'O Superman' by Laurie Anderson and was originally on the album Big Science. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I liked Oh Superman by Laurie Anderson too, Very strange but captivating.
Peely introduced it on his show and it actually got to number 2 in the charts back in 1981.
Don't hear it very often but when I do it always reminds me of driving back from Lea Valley back to Norfolk in 81 after buying an old Mustang convertible there, untaxed and with no MOT! was I glad to get home! I had to keep stopping to fill the radiator until a friendly garage mechanic enroute told me to leave the radiator cap loose. It was fine after that! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

So there I am listening for the first time to my recording of the Sunday 40th anniversary shows and really enjoying Kenny Everett when I decided it's the dogs tea time.
Stopping the disc, what should just start playing but Oh Superman! spooky or what? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
