Blimey, it's Allinson crazy next week - a new Record Producers, plus repeats of old ones on 6Music.
The RA fans must be thankful for SK's pneumonia, eh? |

Ian-Richard Allinson is simply a radio genius.
Despite not being on mainstream radio he still has a very large fan base-sometimes referred to as "Allinson's Barmy Army". |

Went to the Highlands last week , great scenery, great weather
We got to listen to Davina McCall, not bad for a standin (definitely not full time though) |

All is right with the world,
And Mr Allinson is on Radio2 at least until Friday

Richard Allinson-sounding very good on the Dawn Patrol today.
At last a decent radio presenter on daytime Radio 2. |

Did he announce world peace or a cure for cancer on the show then? I seem to have missed what was so special about it. Dont get me wrong it was perfectly adequate stand-in cover, but nothing special. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Ernie-I think the point is (as seems to be supported by a lots of posts on here) is that the quality of day time shows on Radio 2 has significantly gone down in recent times-too many celebrity types who just because Lesley Douglas thinks can cut it on TV believes they just make great radio presenters as well.
Richard Allinson is just an out and out presenter/dj ,and when compared to celebrity types just stands out as a true professional when he is in the chair.
Indeed he has not been on Radio 2 for quite some while so it's great to hear him on mainstream radio again. |

If it improves my enjoyment of Radio 2 it's OK by me. I might even set my alarm 10 minutes early. _________________ Geddon

Richard is an out and out presenter. He seems too be more "out of Radio 2 at present unless someone is ill.
Nice to hear him this morning, sounded like he was trying to power himself up a little at 6am, but once 6.30 had come he was powered up, by 7am he was ready for another show, but Terry was along at 7.30am. Shame
He is around until Friday or until Sarah is well, and she is on the mend. So all the "Bull" people have been writing or saying is untrue he said. ( but he didn't say Bull that is my word ) |

Well regardless of what I think of his presenting qualities, this does show him to be a true Gent. There are many occasions over the last few years when he could have made some digs at presenters or bosses and has resisted it. |

Well at least Richard your radio mate dosn't talk about her like you do. It's not what you look like on the radio, she attracts the listeners. |

I don't care what anybody says, Dawn Patrol today was presented by a professional radio presenter which made my drive this morning very pleasant, no text me what flavour crisps, make of car, no insistant egoistic clapping or any such tosh, which is more than can be said for the 2 till 7 slots, IMHO. Thanks Richard, couldn't you have done the Ken Bruce slot as well?

Maybe you should get your eyes tested ernie, did RA ask people to text him what flavour crisps or what car, I think not ernie, so don't act like the media and quote me out of context.

Custard creams or bourbons today after the 6.30 news. How is that qualitatively different from asking what your favourite flavour of crisps is?

Personally I would say yes!! some do it in different ways? This is why Ken Bruce gets a lot of abuse in texts and emails |

If my memory serves me correct this was a comment about custard creams verses bourbons in a news article which also, I do believe, was continued by Wogan. It was a mickey take on the article, not quite the same as asking people to text in and tell on air what flavour crisps they are eating, which IMHO, is a very simple question.

That's not my recollection ernie, however, it's far too long ago for my years to recollect accurately, but was it a mickey take or was it for real with CE? Good question, well presented, but don't know the answer

Much better than AJ last week, but then RA is, IMHO, a professional presenter and not another of LG's celeb presenters.
