Guess as it's usually the time of year he starts covering, unless he pops up in the next week or two? |

In case you haven't noticed - there's no-one off! He can hardly come in and do cover if all the full-time staff are actually in!
(yes, I know Terry's off but Richard hasn't been a scheduled cover for that show for ages) |

Maybe it's just a coincidence then. On the same day Mark O posted this thread I received an e-mail from a very close friend of mine who works for the BBC in a very senior position-outside broadcasts though.
In catching up (he's been in the USA recently following the mighty Chelsea FC) he mentioned "not looking good for your hero Richard Allinson by the way Mark-looks as though he has been completely sidelined in favour of others".
I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4-is there a chance my friend/Mark O are wrong and Richard will still considered as cover in the future on Radio 2-I sincerely hope so.
Radio 2 is in need of quality presenters, such as Richard Allinson. |

If RA doesn't get any cover jobs between now and the end of the summer, I guess you can take it as read that he's persona non grata at R2 now, his usefulness over as far as management are concerned.
Since they've obviously got huge talent waiting in the wings (like Kate Thornton ), why would they bother with him? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

There are 2 types of cover required, holiday & illness cover. Holiday cover seems to be increasingly done by Maconie, Radcliffe, Dermot & Pete Mitchell. Maybe he still has the illness cover job for Sarah & Terry? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I wonder if Allinson is heading off to Capital Gold to do breakfast then? He is an ex-Capital guy. Did he part on good terms with them? Presumably Capital's management has changed a few times anyway since he left! _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Richard Allinson is still broadcasting daily on BFBS Radio 2 Monday-Friday 9-11am and on BBC Radio Oxford/York on Saturday afternoons with his Allinson's Albums Show-12-2pm (12.30-2.30pmon Radio York.
I'm sure Richard will be called upon again for cover duties on BBC Radio 2 at some time in the future.
Why the sudden interest in Richard again? |

You tend to note quality broadcasting when it's not about.
However a daily dose on BFBS keeps you going.
If you haven't heard it, try it - I bet you like it. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |
