Listening to Arlene Phillips grating voice and idiotic performance on Mark Radcliffe yesterday, I had to leave the room. Could there be worse??
The voices of Anne Widdicombe and Cilla Black sprang to mind, not to mention Margaret Thatcher, HRH, and Janet Street Porter, but Arlene has the edge on all of them I think. Who's top of anyone else's "most irritating" list? |

Well I considered him, but then I thought maybe the voice itself isn't that irritating. It's just the shouty bit and the juvenile content of what he says. Then of course there's the maddening bell-ringing..... the singing along..... the interruption of others...... and ....
Yeah, I guess you may be right. |

Agreed, and I'll add Russell Brand going by what I've heard on the trailers. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

RB - makes me want to throw the radio out of the nearest window, but I usually settle for finding the 'off' button instead - it's the cheaper option!
RB is to me the radio equivalent of dragging a nail down a blackboard. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Yes I must admit he has the same effect on me and it's a close call, however, Evans wins for me with RB, Wossie & O'Bleary very close seconds. However, there are many presenters who always cheer me up and make me smile, on R2.

Top/worst three are Evans, Brand, Ross. I don't even attempt to listen now. |

Me too. When Johnnie Walker's sitting in for TW I find it kick-starts the day quite nicely. I miss JW on weekday programming. |

Ross made me laugh this morning with his run through of the top 10 comedy stars and his chat with David Baddiel. He can still make people laugh when he wants to. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Mark Radcliffe,
I feel a professional broadcaster should at least be able to string a couple of coherent sentences together.
I also agree about Steve Lamacq, that is one annoying voice. |

Richard Bacon and Matthew Wright. Both of them have voices that make the hairs on my neck stand on edge. |

Maybe. But he is one hell of a Bruce Forsyth impersonator. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Agree on the Russell Bland comment but I don't have a problem with MR, maybe he stutters a bit but something worth listening to is said, no just a load of repeated facts / surveys read out. |

Radder's voice may not be the most pleasent for radio, but he does have a habit of talking sense, whereas other just shout drivel or self serving cr*p _________________ Geddon

Don't know about that Mark, but after this week I think Dreadful Mcall is just as irritating as CE!
