Wikipedia suggests its Edna Dore (with Wendy Richard as a candidate).

I wasn't convinced it was her. More like Wendy Richard to me.

Who cares? She's as daft and stupid as Steve Wright and the rest of his posse. |

Don't think it's Wendy Richard. Just not her voice or manner, although I can hear a certain similarity. _________________

The Old Woman is actually a card carrying (Actors Equity, that is) actress who has done commercial voice-overs and stuff in the past.
And no, she isn't Wendy Richards. How do I know?

This is going to be a really obvious answer, given the above statement, isn't it?

I've often thought the voice is put on to disguise the identity and real age - I don't think she's that old. |

I'd always assumed that she was Steve Wright's girlfriend. Couldn't understand what she was there for otherwise. _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I have an issue with them calling her "Old Woman"---very disrespectful if you ask me! What's the problem with her using her actual name? |

No, the "old woman" does genuinely remember life in the 1940s and is indeed a real person.

I'm led to believe her real name is Joyce. _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |
