Radio 2's Objectives for the next 12 months:
1. Develop further the music club
2. Build on the success of Out to Lunch
3. Maintain commitment to Live Music
They plan to broadcast specials on the 40th birthday of Radio 1 & 2
Also plan more special Friday Night Is Music Night shows similar to the Nanci Griffith's special earlier this year. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I've had a quick scan of the document, looks very interesting - shall print and take time to read.

It's interesting to see that Radio One is now aimed at 15-29 year olds, (used to be 24) and radio two over 35's. Do people aged between 30 and 34 not count as far as the BBC are concerned. Another thing worth noting is 6Music should be playing songs that aren't getting played anyway else. I know they do but you can still hear songs on 6Music that are on Radio's 1 and 2. Why? |

4. Sign Danny Baker?!
Interesting oxymoron. 'Success' and 'Out To Lunch' !! One of the single worse, drawn out, humourless, non-entity filled waste of an hour of national radio airtime. No-one on the R2 board had a good word to say about it, so where has this 'success' come from I wonder?
Just bring back 'Stand-Up 2' . We hadn't heard of most of the contributors there, but at least it was all rapid fire stand-up so if you didn't like one gag etc ... but the majority of it was quite fresh and amusing and a good platform to discover and develop genuinely funny, original comedy talent. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

5. Commission a new bloody News and Travel jingle to replace the TEN YEAR OLD ones we currently have, which considering their frequent airplay, do very little to endorse the station's ethos of evolution!!! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Which means:
1. Develop further the music club
- the concept hasn't really developed, nobody's interested, let's try again
2. Build on the success of Out to Lunch
- the success is insignificant so we need to build on it
3. Maintain commitment to Live Music
- nobody has noticed how little live music R2 has so just keep things the same and no-one will notice
So, just more of the same eh? |

As far as I can tell there's nothing on BBC Radio aimed at the early thirties between 5 and 7pm weekdays. I emailed the BBC asking what they broadcast for our age group and they responded with everything but a reply to the question. I guess we're not important at this age. |

All of BBC network radio is a complete mess and run by accountants and project managers. What a total waste of time putting together this silly mission objective. No doubt a whole bunch of hangers on spent ages mulling this one over in some trendy soho wine bar. |

Well they are branding all of the music documentaries as being part of the "music club". I have always shared Groucho Marx view that I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would admit me _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Well the Chris Evans show is aimed roughly at 30-50 age bracket, although I think it has grown slightly older since it launch. Leaving aside your dislike of the show (it you possibly can for a moment) however people aren't all homogeneous, so age can only really be one factor in scheduling. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
