I must say that it has been a pleasure listening to richard Allison these last couple of days on radio 2 at breakfast, and to me he is the ideal morning host. Not that I have anything against Terry W. but his style has become a little stale (to my ears) and I often switch on BBC Breakfast TV when getting myself ready in the morning. Thanks to RA I have been listening throughout. The pace of his show and the choice of music are much better, in my opinion. It would be so nice to think that he might replace TW in this slot one day but I fear this is never to be. More likely to be that twit evans I guess. or that other egomaniac Ross. |

I'm missing Terry but Richard is a good replacement/subsitute/stand in whatever you want to call him.
There is even a small possibility he may be in the hotseat tomorrow too, I understand Terry is still quite poorly. |

Interesting TTS.
Richard's stand in on BFBS Radio 2 Richard Hutchinson advised RA will definetly be back tomorrow for his regular BFBS show.
I guess then it's a question of wait and see.
Thought RA delivered another top quality show earlier today-certainly not a poor substitute as some people think. |

Maybe Richard's taping tomorrow's show this afternoon Mark, so he's free in case Terry's still off. They said at the handover he'd possibly be on again tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I might have thought he was a poor substiute, but I've grown to like the fella, he's doing really well.
Richard said yesterday that Terry would definatley be back today but he wasn't, also he said to Ken he (Rich) might be back tomorrow.
It really just depends if Tel is feeling up to it. |

Hi TTS-I am certainly not complaining-the more Richard Allinson on Radio 2 the better as far as I am concerned.
Remember also Richard is sitting in for Steve Wright next week as well-yippee |

Toggy - welcome to the fan club. I don't know what it is but Richard has excelled himself over the past two days and the majority of postings here seem to support that. I'll listen to him wherever, whenever but this weeks been great so far.

Great TTS.
Now need to work on that other poster Nod.
Where is he by theway-he's been a bit quiet these past few days-perhaps he's lurking in the shadows. |

It has been great listening to Richard on radio 2 again and it will be a pleasure to switch on Radio 2 in the afternoons for a change next week.
I am puzzled though; if Richard is considered good enough to deputise on Terry's show and SW..........why on earth is he not given his own regular slot instead of losing first the evening show and then the weekend show? |

Taz, that's the million dollar question that we're all asking.
Blooming great to see all the positive feedback for Richard this week!
Here's to next week!
Cheers, Rich. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Picking up on a point made by Mark Occomore earlier in this thread I have to say that Wise Buddah have put together a brilliant "jingle pack "for Richard's daily show on BFBS.
I know probably a whole host of people will say "so what" but after hearing the regular radio 2 jingles for the upteenth time you begin to realise/appreciate the freshness of the package Richard uses each day on his show.
I certainly do think the jingles do add to to the overall customer experience/enjoyment of the show one is listening to.
I have seen on other threads comments posted by the "Lady" on the Radio 2 jingles and how old/outdated they sound. I agree with this posters comments on this point. |

All this Allinson adulation is a little bit, well, unhealthy dontcha think? He's ok but he's not up to the standards of Sir Ken Popmaster Bruce for instance.
I, for one, would like to see him put a show together if someone had nicked all his Dido, Steely Dan, Todd Rundgren and Neil Young CDs.
And not forgetting his well worn copy of Easy Lover by Collins & Bailey.
Yawn........... |

Likewise I feel asleep reading your incisive comments.
Ken Bruce a popmaster -in my opinion a pop muppet.
Each to their own don't you think. |

You're entitled to your opinion (of course) but factually that's just wrong - Ken has a vast knowledge and love of music. The only thing letting him down is the bland, repetitive choices of his producer (who I'm sure you know hampered the sainted Allinson in the old days). |

I like to think he is to cover for Terry now. Lesley likes to change a few things around every year. Well she has lost Mark Goodier and I blame radio 2 for that as he should have had his own show.
Just been listening to Mondays show online as I missed it. Sounds really relaxed and settled in. He does fit into SK, TW and SW show nicely. |

I sincerely hope Richard is not going to feature any of the Steve Wright rubbish like "ask Elvis".
Russell Grant will be on though I presume on Monday's show-can't wait-I need a good laugh.
Looking forward to hearing 15 quality hours of excellent radio entertainment this week with Richard Allinson between 2-5pm not forgetting of course his daily show on BFBS Radio 2 between 9-11am. |

I know this is slightly bad taste, but did anyone find it... weird... when the top news story during the afternoon today was about a "Steve Wright pleading not guilty in court" - it can't just have been me who thought for a moment: that's where he's gone! |
