Or is it that someone has reported them, which automatically means the message is hidden until a mod deals with it? |

Most of the threads over there seem to be about other threads about threads that were closed/ modded/ whatever. I fear they are slowly descending into Fifth Circle of Hell _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I had a quick look on there earlier and couldn't work out why all those titles had been hidden.
Complete madness if you ask me.

I've never really re-visited that place since we started here, why would you want to, this is a much nicer place.
Reading this thread took my mind back to those heady days of the old message boards....ah, how I miss the arguments and slaggings off... I look at the BBC Message Boards every now and again-I do tend to agree with other peoples comments about them these days-"breathe and your considered to be off topic".
It's a bizzare situation when people cannot post their comments about the presenters and shows anymore.
What is the BBC frightened of. |

Admittedly my experience is limited, having only complained three times, but I don't think they use the "half-way house" for members' use of the button.
On all three occasions I "catpee'd" messages (at a weekend) which were trolls' personal criticism of presenters. Two were abusive and were completely removed immediately; the third was left open while they thought about it - I got the e-mail saying they thought it OK a couple of days later but at the same time the Host closed the whole thread as off-topic. _________________ Ron |

Jane was the one who posted messages on all of the old boards asking what we wanted, then 2 weeks later announced that most of them would be closing.......

Jane certainly seems to be a hawk amongst the pigeons there.
When prompted publicly, Sian eventually reinstated the three original posts, explaining that they'd been spiked following a member's complaint about them being off-topic, which sounds to me as if someone was being deliberately disruptive and spiteful, or even vindictive.
I notice Peter's thread about the late Kurt Vonnegut has also been reinstated, though one of jason's contributions got the thumbs down, much to his umbridge. _________________ Ron |

A little light-hearted list of what mark Nicolas might have played on his show got closed for being off - topic. I fail to understand why the boards can be used to promote programmes that otherwise no-one would listen to, then close them again as "off-topic" when listeners make comments.
The words take over, lunatics and asylum spring readily to mind. _________________ Geddon

It's about shrinking extremism..... once they'd got rid of the extremists, then extreme is what was once mainstream... so now the mainstreamists have become extremists and are subject to moderation and banning. Slowly but surely, they will be marched off the boards leaving only the pure conformists. They are the posters who think that posting a message about anything at all is ... well, lets face it... a bit extreme ... so they don't post at all, making the job of the moderator much easier. The problems with that will really kick-in when the BBC who measure the performance of the moderators using the metric of total posts moderated, rewarding the moderators with a performance related salary review. When they check the metric on how many posts have been moderated, and the result is zero ( cos there aren't any posters)... the moderators will have performed poorly... so this is what I predict will happen ... the moderation will become more and more draconian, making the moderators metrics on moderation look good. This works really well in the short term but as more and more posters are driven away ... the moderators posts moderated metrics will fall sharply, so they'll need to start encouraging people to come back and post just to keep their moderation metrics up at a good level, otherwise the BBC will conclude that moderators are no longer required , sack them all and then it will be open season again. |

Gotta love how they are obviously using BBC publicity notes in their opening posts. They try to disguise it with an opener like "The sunny weather last weekend got me thinking about .......... a new 6 part documentary on Matt Monroe's career......."
If you dare post asking for them to share their thoughts on the topic, you will not get a reply for the obvious reason that they dont give a fig about the topic under discussion and are just posting what the publicity dept have given them. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hello! I see you've had your query answered but for future - You can get a list of all the music played on Radio 2 on the playlist page here:
This is a quote from Sian - one of the so-called hosts.
Apparently, we can't even ask each other about music Now!!

I think that Rachel is referring to the law of diminishing returns.
Consider an onion.
Once you remove the outside layer, there is a new outside layer. If you continue to remove the extreme outside layers, youare left with nothing.
