|

Did I hear Richard correctly a few minutes ago. Wow if my ears were not deceiving me then this is fantastic news.
Will Richard be recereating his former Radio 2 Saturday afternoon show-indeed is the Wall of Sound coming back.
Richard on the radio 7 days a week. As my old mum would say "there is no such thing as too much Allinson" |

That's right Mark, you did hear right, posted a thread about this myself!!
Looks like its a 2 hr show so it may mirror the BFBS format.
He's all over Christmas!
Great news _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Andy-It does seem that Richard has a new lease of life. He's doing more radio shows on a weekly basis than he has done for years-fantastic news for us Richard fans.
Am going to try and find out if his Saturday show is a regular gig on Radio Oxford or just a one off.
Richard Allinson rocks. |

I wish Richard could secure a show on Radio 2 -Saturdays would be my preference but it looks as though he may be securing something similar on Radio Oxford instead. |

Has this got anythiing too do with R2 Preservation Society?
Why dont you discuss things outside Radio 2 in the Coffee Bar. Now this message board needs to be run correctly.
I reckon he might not be heard on R2 after the festive period? Dont blame Lesley Douglas as that is out of order, as this could be Richards decision. |

You sure it's not just a one off as he's not in Christmas Eve? They are quick enough adding the festive schedule and not changing richards homepage. |

Richard's new show will run every Saturday from 12-2pm on BBC Radio Oxford-it's called Allinsons Albums and today was NOT a one off event.
Richard is having tomorrow Sunday 24/12 off and I believe next Sunday as well.
Don't believe he is quitting his regular Sunday morning show on Radio Oxford though in the long term. |

So he works 7 days a week? Is the Saturday show live? I dont think we will hear him much on Radio 2 if he does 15 hours a week elsewhere in diverse locations. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Yes Ernie the Saturday show was live today-Richard was working in studio 2 of the Radio Oxford studios with the web cam in operation.
Richard it would appear is working 7days a week currently although I would suspect this will change-I think he might pre record a few of his BFBS shows in the future. |

Do the BFBS need to be live? I thought he was being put out front & centre there to promote that network more. I think pre-recording would probably not help in that regard. Maybe he will just pre-record occassionally? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I wouldn't expect we will? But you can't blame anyone for this, as some people do.
I would expect BFBS shows can be voice tracked and the music added a lot of the time. |

Mark,
I'm quite sure we can blame Lesley Douglas for the fact Richard's not on Radio 2 regularly..
He was till she took over as Controller.

Don't forget the excellent Richard Allinson is back on Radio 2 starting Boxing Day from 7.30am until 10am.
These shows not as good as his daily BFBS Radio shows but at least he's back on mainstream radio for the next week which is great news.
Richard Allinson rocks.
PS-Richard had to go in for a meeting with Radio 2 bosses after he delivered the breakfast show on 22/12 for some career talks. Wonder what that was all about. Indeed will he let us in on the outcome of those weeks over the next week or so. |

Sorry have you heard the shows since the message went to the air? 'Richard had to go for a meeting with the R2 Bosses'. I doubt he will tell you and everyone on air about his business.

Mark O,
When Mark M said 20 years, he didn't say his age, that's how long he's been listening to Richard Allinson!
I doubt he's that young!!

I have been listening/following Richard Allinson since 1982/83. I remember tuning into one of his early shows on Capital Radio when he presented the chart show.
For what its worth I am 46. |

I hope BBC Radio Oxford get their act together and get a listen again feature set up for Richard's new Saturday afternoon show.
I don't believe the first show broadcast last Saturday has been carried on such a feature. Why not? |

Absoluitely right Helen.
I guess the only way we are going to learn whether Richard has both a Saturday and Sunday shows on Radio Oxford is tune in at 12 o'clock on Saturday and at 9am on Sunday. If its Richard voice then fantastic-if not then a lot of his fans are going to be disappointed.
In less than a week we will know for sure.
Richard Allinson rocks. |

Hi Mark-I "love you" man (steady!!!)
Yes you are absolutely spot on.
It looks like Richard has 2 shows on Radio Oxford over the weekend covering Saturday 12-2pm with Allinsons Albums and then his Sunday morning show going out from 9-12.
Who said there isn't a God.
Next up is Allinsons Albums show to be brought to BBC Radio 2 in 2007.
Richard Allinson on the radio 7 days a week-fantastic.
Off to take a cold shower now. |

Yes steady Looks like he wont be coming to Radio 2 fulltime. He's giving something to those people who live in that part of the country, as there isn't room for the show on Radio 2. |

Mark O-I think there is a cunning plan taking place here.
Richard is bringing the hugely succesful format of Allinsons Albums(originated on BFBS Radio 2) to a wider audience by roadtesting it on BBC Radio Oxford.
Then once the listener numbers have gone through the roof BBC Management will then bring the show to mainstream Radio 2 on Saturday afternoons-same time 12-2pm.
I believe a realisation is setting in with the BBC management that Richard is too good to be sitting on the subs bench-his time on mainstream Radio 2 is coming again.
Richard Allinson rocks. |
