Well actually it hit the ice berg before midnight & sank early the following day, but tonight is the night 95 years ago when the unsinkable ship, sank. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I have a bit of old memorabilia associated with the Titanic, not from the ship but it's a 78rpm record that was made by the Edison Bell company at the time, 1912, in Britain, by Robert Carr (using a pseudonym). I think one side is a speech and the other side is a song 'Stand By Your Post' or something. It was made in aid of the families of passengers who died.

In Belfast they are gearing up to mark the 100 anniversary in a major way [the ship being built there]. They are hoping to have a major exhibition in place.
I have seen bits of Titanic artifacts in many cities in the US, Canada, UK & Ireland, so this disaster still holds an incredile facination with the public 95 years on. There are some very interesting bits in Halifax, Nova Scotia to do with the rescue of survivors from the disaster. I think Cork in Ireland also has a Titanic bar, as it was the last land port that Titanic sailed from. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Why does no-one feel sorry for the iceberg? _________________ Geddon

If it happened today, the shipping company's insurers would probably try to sue the iceberg for floating without due care and attention.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
