Was I the only one that thought CE was being incredibly crass and insensitive, joking that Bob Woolmer was murdered to take the heat off Freddie Flintoff's pedalo escapades?
I have a reasonably dark sense of humour, but there is a limit... For goodness sake, Evans.... the man hasn't even been buried yet!
Is this how low R2 has sunk.... employing presenters that think jokes about very recently deceased people are funny??? _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Living proof that, for Evans, it's important to keep opening his big gob even when he has nothing intelligent to say. Which is most of the time, it would seem!

Kenny Everett got sacked for an off the cuff remark that was no where near as bad. Can we but hope????? _________________ Geddon

Mind you, it has been said that the knives were out for Ken for ages, and they were just waiting for him to slip up - Evans is the BBC's Golden Boy so can get away with anything at the moment! _________________ "....you're wearing a plywood bow tie with Dundee United on it?" |

I missed that. Only heard hour 2 last night. A bit poor taste I agree if thats what he said.
I think Flintoff is a plonker anyway and no amount of distractions will hide that. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I don't suppose an apology to Bob's family and friends was forthcoming, was it?
Sick little puppy, Evans.
Or maybe there's more chance of getting an apology out of Sarah Kennedy. _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

That's the sort of low comment I would expect from Crass Evans - hence I never listen. It was grand having Stuart Mac on last week. _________________ MiS |

Quite agree about standards, if DOLE is considered a sub for the great KB, then what next? Why does he have to have that irritating "background music" playing all the time, it's hard enough to understand his mutterings as it is!
If I had my way, Evans, Ross, O'Leary, Brand and Paige would be dispensed with forthwith. _________________ MiS |

A case of "biting the hand that feeds one" in his case, methinks (especially given the level of his inflated salary. Much the case as with that idiot Evans, actually.

I didn't hear the Woolmer remark, but I was on holiday the day it was given out that Syd Barrett had died. Mark Radcliffe, in for Steve Wright that day, was reasonably respectful and played some early Floyd in memory. Evans, on the other hand, went on in the usual manner.
I wasn't expecting the ginger twerp to do a mass overhaul of the show's playlist the way Bob Harris did for the sake of the Queen Mother, but I found it grossly insensitive and bloody ignorant. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

You have to question the sensitivities of anyone who can dedicate the best part of his show to halitosis, so the Bob Woolmer indignity comes as no surprise to me. The guy is completely bereft of any sense of appropriateness.
Actually tonight I thought he was pretty condescendingly appreciative of Mika and DO'L, both of whom he had dissed (attempting to coerce his fellow presenters into so doing at the same time) last week, so maybe he is beginning to feel the pressure of "not golden boy". Certainly he had a few pointed comments to make about not being asked to do some recent TV awards show presentations.
All I want is a bit less shouting - it does my head in! Oh and a bit of intelligence wouldn't go amiss either..... but then.... crazy is as crazy does. |

Yeah right, it must have been a couple of weeks ago. Funny how time flies when you're enjoying yourself.
Seriously, SM was like a breath of fresh air this last two weeks. And JW would be like pure unadulterated oxygen. Those were the days, hey? |

They were indeed. Drivetime on R2 is a no-go zone these days. Those who do inflict it on themselves are well and truly welcome to it!

I would welcome the chance to listen to R2 5-7, but that will only arise when Evans has gone and a decent, intelligent, respectful presenter is given the job. Some hope! _________________ MiS |

Lets not do this-why are looking back in time?
We should be looking forward.
Whether you like it or not on Ms Douglas's watch the likes of Brand, Ross, Evans, O'Leary are the future/here to stay. |

Not sure why Shelster dug up a 15 month old post of mine!
As far as the shows you mention go, they simply aren't on my radar. Sadly I cannot listen to R2 nearly as much as I used to, but thankfully there are alternatives.
One thing I don't get - if Evans' show is as popular as they claim, why the incessant trailers for it? _________________ MiS |

To be fair, the trailers seem to be as much for the podcasts as the show. But I suppose the question still stands! |
