Don't know if you allready knew this but Richard Hammond (the Top Gear presenter who miraculously survived that car crash) will be doing a special show on Good Friday (april 6) ,2-4pm.(Steve Wrights got the day off).Great to hear he's well enough to do a radio show.Irish comedian Dara O'briain is doing drivetime on the same day. |

Good news about Richard Allinson appearing on Good Friday.
Hope he doing on a stint on Easter Monday as well.
Richard Allinson rocks for the BBC (but not as often as he should be). |

I think the time may be coming to start a Campaign For Real DJs on R2. The qualification being that they do not already have a 'celebrity' background on TV etc. Do not SHOUT at you and always identify the tracks they play. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Dara O'Briain??!! Fantastic!
Idle speculation time: I wonder if O'Briain is being tried out as a possible replacement for Jonathan Ross were Rossy to move...? He's another Off The Kerb act (like Ross, Lamarr, Steel, Brand, etc.) |

Good choices both. People with personality and something worth saying are welcome. Less of the bland robo jock time check specialists please. At last radio 2 has stopped selecting cover presenters based upon their button pressing abilities. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

The Richard Allinson news is to be exected but Yay anyway!!
I like the Hamster and Dara on tv so will give them a go on the radio - they can't do any worse a job than Davina did (or as O'dreary still does!!)
Don't think Dara's a potential line up, just another in a long list of celebs to attract listeners.
I take and agree with the point about real dj's. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

If he plays inything by his namesake band The Hamsters, That will be a point in the Hamster's favour IMHO! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

You sure Jeremy is doing it? He usually has the Easter fortnight off, Probably Brian Hayes sitting in.

Maybe - and Hammond seems like a decent chap, so I'm not going to dismiss him out of hand. But I suspect Ms Douglas would not have touched him with her gardening gloves on had he not had the car crash and made the papers - it seems her decisions on who to sign for the station are based mainly on who's on the front cover of the Daily Star! _________________ "....you're wearing a plywood bow tie with Dundee United on it?" |

Dara has impressed on his previous appearances on the network so it is only right and proper that he gets a proper show.
Richard Hammond started his career in local radio, so people should do some research before going off on the usual "why are these TV celeb's with no radio experience being employed by Radio 2" rant. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Perhaps you shouldn't have added that bit. You might have blown his Radio 2 career out of the water before it's even started!! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Did anyone see Hamster playing bass in the 'Top Gear' band on Comic Relief ? He was fantastic and it sure didn't look like he was faking it, the tune they murdered (Red light spells danger) had a bit of a train wreck ending and Hamster was playing some great bassline runs over Clarkson's pitiful attempt at playing drums. |

Actually I reckon Hamster should be pretty good.
Does anyone know what genre of music he's likely to play?
Ian. |
