This is my favourite show on Radio 2 each week.
I think Stuart is an excellent presenter, he plays a great selection of music and imparts a lot of his knowledge throughout the show.
I wish his show though was on for 3 hours. |

hear hear - agree with everything you said - he's my favourite too
and I was also annoyed at his show being cut to 2 1/2 hrs.
I always get introduced to new music on that show - and Stuart is a great broadcaster: witty, clever and yet far from being egotistical - he has time for his listeners unlike some other presenters who are just me me me.
Thumbs up for Stuart Maconie |

Haven't read it yet. I might give it a go although the subject has been a bit over done already IMHO. The reviews of the book seem reasonable positive. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

It's fantastic - you should read it - he writes so well - it's really funny (especially the bit about his junior school days - I was laughing out loud!) _________________ I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. |

Yes, exactly - I managed to catch SM's show live on Saturday - it was so good, I didn't want it to end, at least certainly not at 1630. A sense of dissappointment loomed large when he said at 1620 "Dermot's up next". _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

he doesn't do the sofa adds - he said it wasn't him and I think you can tell it isn't anyway - some sounds/phonemes (whatever you want to call them) sound the same but others really don't... _________________ I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. |

What's wrong with Stuart selling sofa (if it is him) ? Terry used to sell cod liver oil capsules and no-one complained. ( Not a rant, just gently pointing to the inconsistency) _________________ Geddon

I'm afraid I'm very apathetic towards Maconie's Saturday Show. To me it's nowt special and often sounds like he's just filling a gap till they can find a bigger (tv) star to agree to the slot!
Come back Dickie Allinson 3.30-6.30 or even Martin Kelner On Saturday, which had a bit of umph and charisma about it.
Obviously I'd like Baker there too but I have strong suspicions he's been offered it and turned it down, such is the lure of The Den! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Chris Evans mentioned it in his blog last week the day after Stuart covered for him and Steve has mentioned it also? Stuart can't mention it as he's under contract with DFS. Maybe the festive one should be rested until later in the year |

It isn't him - Stuart said Ken Bruce had asked him - and he said it wasn't him - don't be ridiculous - of course he doesn't have to keep it a secret because of a contract - you can tell it doesn't sound like him anyway _________________ I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. |

One of the best shows on Radio 2.
Makes a nice change from the ego TV star presenters.
Keep up the excellent work Mr Maconie!

It really does sound like Stuart though.
There is a new one on the radio at the mo and that doesn't sound like him - more like Steve Berry (sp?) who used to review motorbikes on one of the motoring shows. |

Oh cool - I really enjoyed his "Cider With Roadies" book and hopefully this one will be just as entertaining.
He's one of those people who manages to write just as they speak.
Thanks for mentioning the book! |

I wish they would give Stuart his 30 minutes back-his show should be allowed to run for a full 3 hours.
Keep up the good work on a Saturday Stuart-your show is my favourite on Radio 2. |

I agree. In fact, I think he should be presenting drivetime. Better than that pillo-ck they're currently using at huge expense to the licence-fee payer.

Got to be honest i wish RA had been left to his Sat show.
Stuart is OK but it never really gets me that involved.
Richard had a special way of presenting on a Saturday which Stuart can not match.

I would be happy leaving Stuart where he is and replacing Kermit with Richard. _________________ Geddon

Hi Mike-I of course agree with you but in Richard's absence Stuart show is the next best thing.
Sadly imho there is not a lot else that I really like on Radio 2 just now-I wish they would overhaul the schedules and bring in some fresh talent at least on the weekend schedules. |

I always enjoy Stuarts show. He knows his stuff. But he takes no nonsense....Today in his competition the guy had to go wash his hands because he had been chopping chicken (very good H&S). There was a 10 sec pause and SM say 'there appears to be a problem with your phone...you don't have it up to your ear!". After that SM gave the guy about 2 secs to answer the questions so the guy stood no chance. I miss RA on Saturday too, was a damn good show but I agree, if we can't have that, Stuart is the next best thing. Love the Betamax challenge but this week was real infuriating - I was shouting all the answers at the radio!! Maybe, I'll ring up and get on the quiz....and get them all wrong!
What I miss is Stuarts Critical List - yes it's in the current show but the format is all wrong, seems all they've done is take the best of and unsung and stuck them in the middle of a show!
And haven't we had Hotel California before...?
Bring back the hour show! - did notice the handover to O'Dreary though....just before I launched myself at the off button _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Coach detours, should be as I dont drive buses. One tight spot I had coming out on too a main road with a brick wall on one side and the beer wagon on the other, just scrapped through. |
