I thought that Radders was excellent this afternoon, didn't catch it all, but what I heard was a breath of fresh air, IMHO. What are other posters views?

Remembering what it was like last year when he sat in, I was eagerly awaiting this time. Mark showed how it should be done. There you are, I don't dislike all of Lesley Douglas' Radio 2 signings, I just wish they were all of Mark Radcliffe's calibre. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I agree Mark but we can have an RA overdose you know.
BFBS Monday to Friday and Oxford on Saturday are enough for me but with the news of Mark Goodier working on Smooth in the Mornings i DO hope we get more :
RA in the Afternoon
On a serious note the preparation and research needed for 2-5 plus doing the 9-11 on BFBS must take a lot of time for Rich. _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Hi Mark, I am a Big RA fan as well, however, I don't know the rights and wrongs of who should have got to sit in for SW, but I just think that todays show, by Radders, was excellent. I have no doubt that it would have also been excellent had RA been sitting in.

Richard Allinson is a good broadcaster, but I think it's good too have a different person covering every time. It's like the lotto show a different game every time wrighty is off. |

Hi ernie he did indeed have nana, form The Royal Family, aka Liz Smith, promoting her book. The interview was very interesting, IMHO, much more so than the "old woman" that's normally on between 2 and 5 weekdays.

PS The interview with Barry Cryer was very funny, especially the cock up with the track Barry wanted playing off the Rock and Droll CD _________________ Old Bikers Never Die, our leathers just get tighter! |

I didnt hear the show myself but I like Barry Cryer. A very funny guy who is mainly in the background but who wrote for some of the best comedians around. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I had an exchange with Lonegroover the other day on Jezza's, or at least he said he was Lonegroover...
He was bantering with somebody so I added "Chris Evans is tripe" and he seconded it!
I queried his remark and he said he was a changed person... and has since rubbished Chris Evans at every chance.
Maybe somebody has stolen his id.
Mind you, I also suspect somebody on here as being that very same person.... |

It's all a mystery. In early days, he was posting on Jezza's using a "Black spy" avatar from the Black spy, White Spy cartoon. His signature was "I am the Smugmeister, I am always right" Sounds right...
He's still posting but as I said, now trashing Chris Evans at every chance!
Maybe he was actually joking all along on the R2 board after all. |

Well another brill show today from Radders, IMHO. The CD profile was excellent, some cracking tracks and how much did Sally enjoy being involved in his crazy, tongue in cheek quiz. It is crazy, but just gells as brilliant radio presenting, well that's what I think, what about the rest of you?

They can't hold a candle to this "Nortern Lad", IMHO. You will think all your birthdays have come at once, 15 hours of Radders and 3 of Bob Harris. I'm in heaven

It's a better approach than SW's...
Sally has a great personality and is always good fun when I've heard her involved with other parts of a show. Radders knows a good foil when he hears one, so it's good that he brings her in and lets her have a chuckle too. I'm sure the main reason is because MR doesn't have an ego the size of a large housing estate, therefore doesn't object to other people being funny on his show.
All SW says to her is "Here's Sal with the traffic", and "thanks Sal".

Well that's it then, Radders back to Manchester, SW and the dimwits back on Monday; brings a Yardbirds track to mind, can anyone guess which one?

Are you referring to "Still I'm Sad"?

No, I was thinking of "Still I'm Sad", but did like your first choice of "Your're A Better Man Than I"
Talking of the Yardbirds, what about the competition on SOTS today ref John Mayall's Blues Breakers (Apr 65 to Jul 66):- Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, John McVie, Hughie Flint, John Mayall. Cream (Jul 66 to Nov 68 ):- Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce. Easy or what Santa? Who topped the Cream, well Blind Faith of course.
