'Fraid not old love. Checked in again with my sources today and incredibly STILL nothing on that week 14/quarter 2 schedule. There must be some seriously big sh*t going down to leave it this late before releasing IMHO.
Will keep looking daily. Suspect it'll be late Friday this week, if at all - Usual way of ensuring controversial decisions get dissipated over the weekend. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Just how much is early release of juicy information worth I wonder?!?!
Theoretically though, it may be big or controversial, but it can't be anything colossal like Wogan leaving. As much as I think they'd want to make the bit between such an announcement and his successor taking over as brief as possible to avoid another Evans-esq stirring up of skism, a fortnight is perhaps pushing it by anyone's standards!!
Baker signed for something obviously a dream for moi. Possible, but by my own admission unlikely.
I have to say, as moist with anticipation as I am, I suspect it'll all amount to nowt! Keep you posted.
Ooo! New News and Travel jingles wouldn't go amiss, considering that April marks their fecking TENTH birthday!!!!!!! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Could be even more Weekend departures or swapping of nights.
Surely the Radio Times has to have 3 weeks notice to print and distribute copies in time. _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Which is why I think we might be in for a disappointment (depending on what you're after of course!) In the last few weeks there was scope for a bit of brouhaha, but, as you say, with the RT's requirements so close now...
Still odd though that they should leave it this late? If the quarter 2/week 14 schedule is exactly the same as its predecessors, why the delay?
A thought occurs Re: the Wogan issue. Now, although I personally believe we're not far away from his abdication from breakfast I really can't see him giving up radio completely. It's in his blood and to suddenly go from the ten hours a week of dialogue and interaction with your public that he's evidently addicted to, to Nada?? .... Nope. I'm not buying it.
I envisage something like this.
Wogan moves to Parkinsons Sunday slot, so not actually retiring so they perhaps could get away with such a late announcement.
Evans gets breakfast
Brand gets Drive
(That at least would explain Brand's equally hastily announced and implemented appointment to Saturday nights)
Not saying that's what will happen. Just the kind of thing that might and which would explain the delay on release due to its potentially controversial implications. Personally I don't think Brand's brand of toilet humour could successfully be sustained during the day and especially at teatime, but what do I know?!
I'm also now starting to wonder if we shouldn't read a little more into Mark Radcliffe's rare return to afternoon depping??? Or for that matter Chris co-hosting Danny's show?
Ahh all this wild surmise! It'll come to nothing you realise that and we'll be lucky to get a new News jingle, but it keeps us off the shopping channel.

Brand on Drivetime-god help us. That will be the end for me completely re Radio 2.
Can't they go and get Richard Aliinson-he would be a zillion times better than Brand. |

Yes, it's very odd that Week 14 hasn't come out yet - but it might not even be because of Radio 2! For all we know, there may be stuff going on at the other networks (he said, hopefully) |

I agree, but it's the kind of ratings chasing tabloid exposure thing she'd do. If she's got any sense when Wogan leaves she'll give it to Danny Baker and thus avoid any other controversial musical chairs. If you listen to him on BBC London he has, more than anyone else, a sense of the surreal and interactively mischievous that Wogan has, whilst at the same time carrying the genre forward a little with the brilliantly executed use of appropriate sound effects, musical beds and the like. (Not to mention an eye for the older R2 listener - Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan's Passing Strangers played yesterday!)
It WILL be a recognisable name and a personality like Baker that gets it. I'd stake my pension on it. Walkers, Lesters and Allinsons - rightly or wrongly and for all their supporters - really don't stand a chance I fear. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

It won't be Brand ... he's plainly not good enough, and as far as I know , I'm still breathing....<pinch > Ouch! yep... still....
DB may get the gig for a short period but that chair has Chris written all over it.
SM will sit on Drivetime for a while... not sure yet who will get that gig full-time though. |

I think one also has to consider, where breakfast is concerned, whether a particular presenter actually wants the social upheaval of a 4 or 5am start to their day. Evans did say not so long ago that his days of those kind of starts were over. Ross too I think would find it difficult. Dan has at least admitted his willingness to do a breakfast slot again.
I guess though, despite anyone's reluctance, eight hundred grand a year does go some way to sweeten the early morning pill doesn't it?! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Chris also said, just a week or so ago that Breakfast shows are easy ..cos you just turn up, do the gig and have the rest of the day off. For £800K a year and every afternoon off, I'd get up a little earlier.
There's so many subtle "comments and digs " being made by different presenters this week. It's quite funny to listen to. |

You wouldn't have to based upon what you told us previously about your early starts You could have a lie in and still pocket the £800k. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Ernie..
They "the Beeb"would never announce a big headline grabbing change by just putting out a new schedule... they have to put out the schedule before they can announce that it will change. So now that we have the schedule..... we wait for the announcement of the big changes to it......... it's more dramatic that way......... that's just how it works apparently... |

The quarter 2 release, which should also have been upon us by now, will identify any schedule changes from week 14 up to and including week 25. (Towards the end of June) _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

If it's wake up to Evans, Brand, Woss, even Walker full time, then I'll be waking up to a different station. Who knows, it may be Radio Humberside. ( somebody , please tell me I did not mention the H word). _________________ Geddon

I thought they might announce it while he is away so he avoids the worst of the fall out.
It dosen't look like anything will change yet anyway. |

Maybe he's going to do Eurovision in order to gets the kids interested ( name 10 Eurovision songs with the word 'La ' in. or , Name our last 10 European flops, and Newcastle United is not an answer) _________________ Geddon
