Russell Brand makes it into the Top 30 with 90,659 listens. Still lags Wogan, Wright & Ross but SOTS and Chris Evans have dropped out of the Top 30. But Chris was off for half of January. Although I am surprised that the return of Brian Matthew did not generate more listen agains. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I'm not surprised, most SOTS listeners would listen whether Brian was there or not.
Listen on line... I can't think many people would actually do this unless there were unusual circumstances. |

Russell Brand may make history. The first radio programme to have higher listen again figures than he has people listening over the live airwaves. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

The subject title refers to January and Brian didn't return till February. Perhaps the next set of figures will reflect this better.

That would indeed explain things. It seems now like he has never been away. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Erm I listen online a lot, usually at work as using a 'proper' radio would pick up too much interference, I'm sure this is the case with a lot of people who listen online. |

That wouldn't surprise me, the people who would want to listen to him are out on Saturday nights! (They still have lives, unlike us oldies with families......)

Must be attracting those types of listeners then. Amazing how someone can influence listeners to join them from a radio station which was for the older generation many years ago. Must admit he does prattle on a lot when I have tuned in. |

I was thinking in general terms, comparing radio listeners to online listeners. I wouldn't think many people listen online to BBC radio as a matter of course do they?
I only use my pc to make use of "listen again" very rarely at that.
Maybe I'm wrong, I don't mind admitting it........ |

Surely Brian gets few Listen Agains because most of his listeners are at home Sat a.m., eating their breakfast.
Brand gets a good number of Listen Again because most of his listeners are blotto at 10.30pm Sat. |

Well partly, but do the math. Matthew has 3m listeners; Brand probably 200k at that time of the night. So if 5% of Matthews' fans miss the show and listen again that would mean 150K hits. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
