I had the misfortune of having to listen to the final hour of the "Pete Mitchell sitting in for the Lexmeister Show" this morning, can someone please send this waste of space back to hospital radio where he belongs!
Not only did we have to endure the usual inane list ( today's was of famous tv butlers and dear old Pete hadn't even heard of Brabinger from To The Manor Born...dur!!), but we also had the return of the crapiest quiz on radio where Pete reads out the Radio Two schedule to the lucky punter and then asks him about it ( and Pete even got part of it wrong!). Even Mo Dutta's quiz seems like Mastermind in comparison.
Mr Mitchell , I realise you're only sitting in but if you can't come up with anything better that this garbage then don't bother...just play the tunes ( which incidently weren't at all bad)
Hope the Dark Lord's just got 1 week off. |

Please tell me you are joking?
This sounds beyond parody. Next people will be calling for Tim Smith to return. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

No seriously, he read out the schedule for today and said ,"obviously I,m sitting in for Alex but can you name 2 OTHER regulars who are on holiday" I think the contestant came up with Wogan and Alex and Pete said that he was correct. |

Talk about 'written on the back of a fag packet'.... ye gods.
Pete Mitchell was brought to R2 for what reason, exactly? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Douglas could only afford one half of Geoff & Pete so she signed the cheapest one. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.....

You mean she couldn't find the £2 coin in her purse to pay for Geoff as well? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

This morning, he referred to the quiz as "the one no-one's talking about".
I've got news for you, Pete - we are, and we're telling you it's a complete pile of sh**e! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Hopefully tomorrow he will refer to his show as "the one no-one's listening to". _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Fog...
I'm afraid I have to take umbrage at your remarks about sending PM back to Hospital Radio-
I do Hospital Radio, and myself and many of my colleagues are FAR more professional than he could ever hope to be.
Therefore, don't send the chancer to us.... he isn't good enough to get a gig on either of our 2 award-winning stations _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Maybe hospital food then? I think you guys do a sterling job on hospital radio, reminds me of when I used to Station Radio in the RAF, that was in the days when no one had a telly and very few had a radio even. We used to go to the NAAFI TV rooms, BBC1 & ITV, but the only radio was the internal station radio where I would do my 3 or 4 shows a week.

Well, there was an (unintentional?) dig at SOTS this morning, PM saying he used the SOTS t-shirt he was giving away was only good for "washing the windows". _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Apologies PJ, I didn't mean to sleight Hospital radio,I'm sure most of their broadcasting skills are superior to PM, at times he can barely complete a sentence without several ers and ums. |

I caught Petey the other morning - I thought he sounded like he'd been on the happy juice. _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

Fog,
No problem. We all fall into the occassional um and er... from a personal perspective, I usually do it when the brain is ticking over and thinking about which direction I want to take whatever it is I'm talking about.
However, in PM's case he really justs seems to do it constantly because he really can't think what to say next. _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

This morning he even had 'er' and 'um' in the middle of telling us a band's name.
Tomorrow, he advertised, was the last chance to discuss the "e-mail of the day".... hmmm - "Why are you on Radio 2?", perhaps? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I heard that, too.... nearly choked laughing!
It's not that difficult a job
Mind you, he did read out my suggestion for dressing the mannequin.

I've got some terrible news to impart.
On the weekend of the clocks going forward to summertime, the Pete Mitchell show will lose 1 hour and only broadcast for 60 minutes.
I hope everybody bears up to this loss of half the show.
