I saw this Alan Ayckbourn play at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark last night. What a cleverly constructed and funny play, with a few shocks as it was a comedy thriller.
An elderly dying man stays in a hotel and hires an unknown girl to witness his signature on his confession that he murdered wives 1 and 2. While the girl is fleeing from the man's sinister business partner (David Bamber) she hides in a cupboard which takes her back 20 years to the same hotel suite where she meets wife 2 (Imogen Stubbs) - alive and well. They eventually link up with wife 1 from another 20 years earlier and conspire to change the course of history.
It was so enjoyable, fast-moving, wonderful script and every performance spot-on. |

Alan Ayckbourn is a bit of an unsung hero as far as I'm concerned,Eileen.
The play sounds very entertaining. |
