Such sad news....the poor man.
Listening to various people talking about him,on the radio, at least four of them, independent of each other, called him a sweet man.
Apparently he was a good friend of Billy Connolly and used to go to Scotland to fish with him.
For all his comic performances I think my favourite performance of his was as Oliver Sacks in the film Awakenings. That film had me weeping for hours after it finished. It inspired me to write to the real Oliver Sacks.

Why do you post comments like this every time someone dies? This section was set up for those too discuss about deaths. We all know it's across the news 24/7. |

I don't. I only post comments like this when, despite the media (including Facebook, Twitter feeds, etc) being absolutely full of related information, you then post a link here as if it's breaking news! What's the point? |

Correct.
Any thread that is posted is up for discussion....appropriate discussion that is.

But Mark isn't offering up any informed comment or discussion point - he's merely posting a statement, as in:
mark occomore wrote: | Actor and Comedian Robin Williams who shot to fame in the 70s with Mork and Mindy has died of a suspected suicide |
And my answer is, naturally, "Yes, I know". |

I thought his performance in it was just exquisite
Amongst many others I saw this tribute to him on Facebook
"We were shocked and sorry to hear of Robin's passing. He was a wonderful and loving human being who was always willing and ready to help others. Our prayers and sympathy go out to his family. May he rest in peace." -Muhammad Ali

So what! .... ignore his posts if they are not to your tastes.
Mark was posting about someone's passing in the In Memoriam section of this board - that is what it is for.
He also put a link for all to read concerning Robin Williams
He doesn't have to put anything else on if he doesn't wish.
You have spoilt this thread, to a deceased person, with your pettiness. |

I see Mark's postings as appropriate to kick-off a thread. Thanks Mark!
OK I sort of liked Robin Williams but to be truthful as a 'comedian' he was too overwhelming for me a lot of the time.
I would watch Good Will Hunting again. Can't remember if I got through Dead Poets Society. Haven't seen Awakenings. _________________ -

Did he say it was breaking news? no he didn't. As John suggests it is merely a way of kicking off a thread.
Not everybody has Twitter or Facebook. |

Anyway back to the subject matter.
I have been disappointed but not surprised by some very ignorant comments from some (not here) regarding Robin's suicide.
Unfortunately when depression takes hold it does not matter if you 'have it all' or at least appear to.
Such a shame Robin could not defeat his demons.
On the subject of his films I thought he was a very versatile actor. I loved him in Mrs Doubtfire and Night at the Museum but for me one of this best was One Hour Photo - wow is all I can say about that |

I have to say that while I generally liked Williams' films, "Jack" actually made me physically ill. Someone had to pick me up from the cinema as I was unable to drive home!
I think I've sat through a lot of really bad films thanks to the talents of Robin Williams. |
