I would have done,Helen, so thanks for posting! eric mc wrote: | I thought Len "done good". Much as I like Paul O'Grady as a radio presenter, Len Goodman's choices and comments were different and interesting and reminded me a bit of Alan Titchmarsh's version of "Melodies for You" (without the light classical).
It was nice to hear some comedy records again. |
I thought the same, eric, when he was on first time round.
Whoever is choosing the music is doing a good job! |

Another good one yesterday if anyone missed it and it was live.
Paul O'Grady returns next Sunday.

I often switch on R2 to listen to the great Johnnie Walker on Sundays and then I'll stay with Paul O'Grady who I think is a great raconteur and all-round good bloke. When Len has sat in I've always been pleasantly surprised with his affable presentation style and his excellent choice of music.
He needs a regular show! |

I agree Colin, I was surprised when I heard his first show a couple of months ago.

Listening to Len's show from last Sunday....he has a manner that puts a smile on your face and the music (the main thing) is again a good mix. Dooley Wilson on at the moment singing As Time Goes By
Len was off to see Jerry Lee Lewis (in a wig and a draped jacket(?!?! ) after this programme...hope he tells us all about it this week. |

Some good tracks yesterday too Becky! I seem to have lost my radio listening habit of late so must make an effort to catch up with things I've missed.

Lots of sport to keep my attention yesterday,Helen,so caught up with Len's programme today.
His story about his (hand made) green winkle pickers and subsequent corn made me chuckle. Many moons ago one of my sisters had a lovely pair of orange (yes, orange) suede stilettos that I coveted. She has smaller feet than me but that didn't deter me when I 'borrowed' them and squeezed my feet into them. Ouch!! |

I am so enjoying Len's choice of music as it suits me down to the ground. I like his presenting style too.
Re winkle pickers - I had two pairs and was asked by my boss at the local library (my first job) to walk up and down some flooring samples so he could choose the best one to survive those high heels.
However, I gave both pairs away to a charity shop not long after as I found them so uncomfortable and the heels were for ever jamming themselves in pavement cracks! |

Yes it was a good listen and more cheerful than Paul O'Grady sounds at times. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

The number of times I lost a steel tip off my stilettos going down the cracks in the pavement! |

Great to hear Len Goodman is back in Paul O'G"s spot. I find I can take or leave Paul's programme but the music Len chooses is not to be missed as far as I am concerned.
It kept me entertained during a mammoth weeding session |

I enjoyed Len's programme yesterday. Among other delights he played "That's What Love Will Do" by Joe Brown and the Bruvvers, and "Marie" by The Bachelors. |

I enjoyed those 2 as well, in fact all the shows have been good during this run.

I have yet to catch up with all of these but have enjoyed the ones I've heard.
There was a blast from the past in one of them..Dave King singing Story Of My Life..a bit of an all rounder if my memory serves.
Len mentioned his new TV programme ...Partners In Rhyme. From the bit I saw of it he should have stuck to Strictly..
( It kept me entertained during a mammoth weeding session.
At first glance,Eileen, I thought that said wedding ) |

I love listening to Len Goodman, the music he plays is perfect for a late Sunday afternoon. Eclectic and not overfamiliar. I particularly enjoyed Danny Williams' Moon River (better than Andy's version) and Groovin' by The Young Rascals.
And for variety, you can't beat Kenny Balls' March Of The Siamese Children.
Paul O'Grady plays some good tunes as well. |
