Hello! I have been lurking on the sidelines - thought it was about time I started posting...........
Question: why does Lynn Bowles never present the traffic news on Terry's show ? |

Must be because he likes to chat with Fran, Deadly and Boggy. |

Didn't the early bird presenters have to read the traffic reports themselves until recently. _________________ Over the hill they came....the greatest Army in the World.....The Tartan Army |

The very early birds (Janice Long / Alex Lester - yes, I know he's enjoying a lie in this week!) still do. It used to be the case with Sarah Kennedy, then Lynn joined Sarah for the second traffic bulletin (about 7:20) now she does both. I too wonder why Lynn doesn't come in on Terry's show. |

Yet another of R2's great unanswered, clunky and unwieldy peculiarities! Along with why has Sounds of the 60's got 2 hours and 70's still only half an hour. Why do some weekend eve progs have a random approach to the news bulletins. Are we gonna get one, or not?!? They've thankfully now dropped the extraordinarily clunky Russell Davies 2.30-3.30 slot! BUT at the expense of YHBT. Oh, and Mo Dutta. Perhaps the biggest of R2's great unanswered peculiarities!! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Because 60s music was great but 70s music was largely rubbish? |

Is Lynn doing the traffic on one of the other channels during Terry's show (leaving Fran et al to cover). It must be one of their busiest times and maybe they have to spread out. _________________ Over the hill they came....the greatest Army in the World.....The Tartan Army |

While Terry was caught in the snow last wek, she did the 7:50 slot that Deadly would normally have done. Deadly was back for the news at 8 _________________ Geddon

A wee bit harsh there Ian, the charts may have been overloaded with glam and disco but there was loads of excellent prog-rock and folk around in the 70's.It would be well worth at least an hour long show with a decent presenter at a peak time-maybe instead of SW's woeful Sunday morning offering. |

Agreed. SWSLS may have had a place ten years ago but it's the same old every bloody week now. Sexual Healing, again! Zzzzzz
Some long-overdue reinvention needed to this slot. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

I concur with the thought of Foggy and the good Lady. A mixture of the good chart stuff, prog rock, electric folk etc would be the basis for a good show, especially when given a good, knowledgeable presenter ( preferably not Steve Harley). A to z's of such as Queen, ABBA, ELP, the Canterbury scene would by good to hear. _________________ Geddon

We've not heard anymore since then. I hope she isn't going.
On the subject of why she doesn't do Terry's Travel News. Well I personally think it's because the 3 newsreaders have become a part of Terry's show so unless he's not there they do the travel.

I heard that she was going to be doing the travel in Terry's show from February, clearly it was an unreliable source |

The week after next as it happens I assume it's Boggy's last stint on the travel news next week. |

Why should it be his last stint Toggy? His birthday isn't until June or July?

Agreed Foggy. In it's own way, the 1970s were every bit as eclectic as the 1960s and SOT70s deserves a much longer programme than the miserly ½ hour it gets. |

His last stint on travel, I think he is retiring in July. |

There's a posting on 'The flip side' that Deadly, Boggy and Fran will only be reading the news during Terry's prog from here on in. Read it quick before it it tken off as being off- topic. Whether this means no Janet and John next week I don't know, but it would appear to be typical 'if it aint broke - break it' from the powers that be. _________________ Geddon

Just listened back to the travel bit (I had a mention) but I didn't catch the bit about the change over first time round. I took it that Boggy will be on next week or did I get that wrong?

I don't think they actually said when it would be happening, Terry is on holiday the week after next so at a guess I would say it would be from when he comes back.
Seems a lot of people are a little annoyed about all this. I find it a little sad but I don't think it's so bad.
I do wonder though if this will mean Terry will be retiring sooner rather than later. |

Toggy. It would appear that the good stuff gets tinkered with, while the dross gets left alone.
Can we dare hope that Organic Janey and timnicebutdim get their marching orders? _________________ Geddon

I felt sad as well Toggy.
It's almost as if they are breaking us in gently for that which we know will happen one day but don't like to think about.

Your point is well taken, Mark, but the banter with Deadly, Boggy and Fran are part of what makes WUTW unique. _________________ Geddon

Isn't March/April bringing in and clearing out time at R2? _________________ Geddon

To be honest I can't see Terry hanging around much longer, he'll miss his freinds too much.
It's a real shame but it's inevitable he will retire one day, the old boy can't go on forever. |
