I don't think its the money nod, I just think that in the world of entertainment most of them are very insecure about working and find it hard to refuse work. I would like to think that Tel is very secure in his "Wake Up To Wogan" show, but how much longer does he want to be getting up at the crack of sparrows, 5 days a week?

Wogan's been doing adverts for years, though - there was a staggeringly sexist one for Flora with wolf-whistling builders in the early 80s, and does anyone else remember his time plugging Bovril Cubes on the box?
Oh, and he was also the spokesman for Playtex bras in the 70s, though whether he actually used the product himself I have no idea! |

He does the voice over for the tesco adverts and cod liver oil. You can catch him on UK Gold for his chat show Now and Then. |

You go into a sound studio in Soho, sit down behind a mic, do a couple of dozen takes of a tag-line for an hour or so and then get paid what to many people is a couple of years' salary as a fee and also campaign residuals. The fees are huge (by common standards) and V/O work is widely regarded as money for old rope for actors and celebs. Let's not forget that almost all people in Wogan's position are on short-term rolling freelance contracts so money in the bank goes toward the pension. They might be drawing it next week, after all.

PS: A friend of mine did a non-speaking part in a TV commercial a couple of years ago (a very long day's work in a film studio at Pinewood) and got paid £30,000 for the whole campaign. I'd work a long day at Pinewood for that! _________________ This week's $64,000 question: Why am I so gorgeous, possums? |

I'll get back on topic then
I'm guessing you are correct, he does not need the money but maybe he's thinking of his children & grandchildren and stashing away as much as he can for them.
Also I'm guessing (again! ) that advertisers like to use his voice as it's pleasant and familiar. I would assume that Terry dosen't shop at Tesco but he does a voice over for them too as does David Jason who probably dosen't shop there or need the money either, lol! |

I've always had that opinion too, that big celebs do these things for their kids or grandkids. Why not? easy money and there's no way he needs the cash.
I hope Chris Evans dosen't take it up....... |

Young people are often recklass and die doing something foolish.... ohh what fun. But when you reach 30, (or older if you are immature) you settle down and your chances of dieing recklassly go down. So until then Julia, be careful. |

No, he sends the present Mrs Wogan to do it! Actually, I remember Helen W appearing in a print ad for Asda a couple of years ago - conflict of interest? |
