Facebook or Twitter?
Erm...... Odd question , they're different from each other, it's like comparing eggs with red wine.
Facebook is for keeping up to date with family and friends , twitter is about sending annoying short messages about nothing in particular, used mainly by celebs to fight with each other, so they can get in the papers.
Linkedin is just a light version of Facebook for people who have a job. |

Yes, the celebs are all too willing to embrace Twitter, until it goes pear-shaped, and then they just feel like Twits, and make a fuss about pulling out of it, thereby looking like Twits as well. |

I'm not a big fan of either and they are very different as was pointed out on the JV show today
When I had some visitors staying recently one of them very kindly put me up a Facebook page but I did tell them I didn't really see the point as I was very unlikely ever to check it
Mind you one never knows - perhaps one of my long lost relatives might get in touch to tell me I've inherited something worthwhile _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I've been on Facebook for a year now I think BUT got fed up with the volume of rubbish so now friends are just 12. Now there's NO family members, NO work colleagies/customers, NO bbc but have the SOTS group. In fact Facebook groups are good I think, I joined 3 music-related groups, bit like the Yahoo groups but images and links are better laid out.
I only joined Twitter to read work-related institute tweets but again the volume/irrelevance bugged me, now down to two 'following' and two 'followers' and don't bother some weeks, just haven't the time for all of this....
I can't understand the success of Facebook's income from advertising, I don't know anyone who has purchased something after seeing an ad on Facebook! I suppose with 850 million users even if 1% are influenced by ads then that is significant? _________________ -

I think both are a load of rubbish. But owners have made a lot of money. I just wonder by floating Facebook on the stock exchange might be a tad too much and bubble may burst. _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

I agree, I think with all of these “no product” dot.com sites – they get to a point in popularity and have hoovered up a shed load of data that has a perceived value to those in Advertising, Marketing etc , they think, ok let’s sell it. Obviously all the shrewd people won’t be buying it, so that just leaves the prawns (us) who use it, as potential purchasers. But here’s the thing, I already know all my data, so why would I want to buy it back? Facebook know only the tip of my iceberg, and I imagine that is the case for everyone who uses it, so the so-called valuable hoard of personal data is somewhat incomplete. You wouldn’t buy a Jigsaw with pieces missing, so the same applies to Facebook. It’s actually a worthless pile of junk, cos social network users are a fickle bunch :- remember Friends Reunited? |

I prefer Twitter but it is full of horrible people, however I've discovered how to filter them (not just block) which it makes it much nicer to use.
Facebook is OK, I only have about 40 people in my friends list. I never put current work colleagues in but former ones I do. |

I love Twitter - have several accounts and follow loads. Good for getting an idea of what's going on in the world (while Facebook tends to be about what your mates have just done). I'm on FB too, but it's not as good. |

Can't be bothered with either and I know that I wouldn't spend enough time protecting my privacy. |
